[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This little bird and a few of his friends were flitting around when we visited a wildlife sanctuary at Illawong, Queensland. These were NOT captive in any way.

The framing is deliberate to show just how small the bird is, sitting in the link of a wire fence.

By the look of the face and especially the beak, I think it's a finch of some sort but I am happy to be corrected.

I know the legs are slightly out of focus but I settled for that as a trade-off against the delight of seeing the rest of him framed like this.

What a composition !!!
Very good caption of this little bird.
I like colors and details.
Good DOF.
Well done.

Nice shot. The compositon is very good especially with the bird in the wire fence. Crisp clear shot. It's a finch of some sort. Good work. TFS

Great composition and framing using the fence, a well captured pose, it looks a touch soft and the background looks a little noisy, still a good shot though.

Good capture Norman!
The colors are great and the DOF & BG are excellent!
The focus is a bit soft.

Great shot, very nice pose. Just a bit soft focused.
Well done.

I think it is a finch too Norman, but I'm not sure what type. he is a tiny little fellow. Good capture. TFS.

What a lovely bird, the red is really stunning.
A great capture, and the 'frame' really helps to emphasize just how small he really is.
Thanks for sharing.

Lovely shot and you are absolutely right. It is a Red-Browed Firetail finch and they are beautiful. I love how you framed him in the wire and I don't think the feet detract from the photo at all. It looks like he has a piece of seed in his beak. They eat grass seeds.

Great composition. Very good pose and great colors on the bird. Blurred legs are a shame but still a good photo.
Well done.

What a wonderful and unique compostion you have managed to share with us. This little guy is quite handsome as we can see. How lucky for him to be caught so well in this photo. You have done a beautiful job, and that was no easy "feet". Thank you for your posting.

Marvellous presentation!
Very good shot of of this little fellow.POV,DOF,pose and colors perfect. Thanks for sharing...

Great composition - as you say, the chain link fence gives a sense of the size of this little bird. Colors are great, and most of the bird really in focus.

I like the composition...and the colors!
Well done!

Good catch, yep its a Red-browed Finch, a fairly common finch through eastern Australia. The frame is good. POV is good and perhaps the DOF isn't optimal, but the head and body are in focus which is the main thing.

The chain link fence gives a very good indication of how small this little bird is. I like the way his feet are spread. Nice capture to get him with seeds in his mouth! Nice clarity of the subtle colours on his breast. Good job, Norman!

Norman, just cute.

The wire is not disturbing to me, and the bird is very nice.

Magnifica foto, buena composicion, buen trabajo.

What an unexpectedly delightful setting! On the thumbnail I felt my reaction transform instantly from "Ugh! Chain link fence..." to "Wow... Chain link fence!"--a nice discovery process that ended happily. I could imagine if it had been me out there I might have thought, "Ooh, pretty finch thingie--I wish he'd get off that chain link fence!". You've done well to overcome that block and generate something exciting. Perfect crop, cute pose, nice colors... The background colors add yet another dimension to this lovely frame. :) :) :)

I am amazed at the clarity and the deliberate composition. Birds this small are so hard to photo.
