[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an odd looking fungus found growing on a fallen tree near a stream in the mountains of Vancouver Island.
I believe it is a member of the puffball group, which grow asymmetrical enclosures which hold the spores until either a passing mammal steps on it or it cracks with age and wind blows the seeds to new homes.
