... and another "mix" of mushroms from Romania. Very good for a salad or other meal, for all of these nine species presented here are edible. As you certainly know, the main caracteristic of the Boletaceae family is the presence of the tubes and pores instead of gills. One year ago I presented a similar collage of boletes from Romania. The ones I present you now are all different form that first one. So, from left to right and up to down, let me introduce you:

1. Boletus (Xerocomus) subtomentosus - rather small, quite similar with no. 9

2.Leccinum quercinum - grows under oaks (the latin name says it)

3. Boletus pseudorubinus - from Gyroporus subfam. category

4. Leccinum aurantiacum - quite common

5. Leccinum crocipodium - not so common, the only Leccinum specie in Romania to have yellow pores

6. Boletus regius - big sized, very good

7. Boletus fragrans- rather small but bulky, often overlooked, although has the same taste and consistence as much more appreciated B. edulis

8. Boletus castaneus - from Gyroporus subfam. too, again small sized but makes up on tastiness

9. Boletus (Xerocomus) chrysenteron - common, similar with B. subtomentosus, but having an overall reddish and darker look.

Enjoy (and bon apetit ;-) )

Regards, Petru

Hello Petru,
What a collection!
Nicely assembled and identified... most impressive...
Each and every image is of fine quality, here nicely put together in an educational collage!
Pablo -

Une belle collection, les amateurs de cuisine s'y retrouveront.
Bonne journée.

A very interesting collage of these Boletus mushrooms Petru.
I've been collecting mushrooms for years but have never eaten a Boletus mushroom. In New Zealand people usually eat only the common field mushrooms with gills.
A nice collection.
Thanks for showing us.
Cheers, Steve

hmm good collection of mushrooms. and properly identified

Frumoasa alaturare si armonie cromatica.

Hi Petru,
a very inviting collection, excellently presented. It is good to see a very similar approach with well saturated colours and well shown shapes in all the elements of that collection, making it very convincing.
Thank you! Best regards,

what an interesting mixture of colours. I am surprised at the number of species you have thanks for showing.

Hello Petru,
What a great collection of mushrooms, beautiful photos all in themselves but love your collage idea...great work. TFS

Hi Petru,
GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! What a fantastic collage of Boletus, Xerocomus and Leccinum species! I'm inspired to do something like this myself later. But I will upload it to TrekLens, not here, because TN already moderated off some of my images, "because of extensive post-procession" - which ment frame only... Unbelievable... But back to Your superb collage: I add it to my faves. This tells everything, I think. Tfs, congrats. Regards from Hungary, László
