Family Common Name: cobweb weavers

I was watching the two of these for a few hours yesterday. They'd turned up on a tomato plant in my garden (along with a couple of others). This is the male and female E.ovata.
They were together all day, just sitting next to each other and occasionally making contact.
Later in the day the female seemed quite drowsy and took this position against a large stem. The male, using his cephalic protrusions, would gently nudge (for want of a better word!) her lower abdomen.
I would like to assume that they were reproducing, but have found so little information on these spiders that itís hard to tell. I really do need a good book!

The E.ovata likes to build its webs on vegetation but can often be found on garden sheds. The colouring of this spider is quite variable, some of them have red markings some have no markings and are just pale green. These were pale green although the male was slightly more yellow, almost neon.
They were no more than 10mm with the maleís body and legs being considerably longer than the females.

One of the others was tucking into a rather large shield bug, which I may post in a few days time.

And I am aware of the tight framing along the bottom. This wasn't cropped it's the original frame.

Thanks for taking the time to look.

Very nice indeed. You managed to get everything in details. well done.

This is az great shot Julia. I love the yellow lemon colour on the upper spider. Yes a good book will help but your unaided eye seems to be gathering plenty of information!
Thanks for showing
