Very good one, indeed.
Sweet portrait with sharp details, and an effective framing.
There is a very good National Geographic on these birds.

Good catch Stephen!
The black BG is not very good IMHO,it takes the good black colors of the bird.
The light is great and unique but it's too bad that only one half of the bird's face is lighten up, you sould have used fill flash to light the dark part.
The picture is very sharp and clear I have to say.
The POV is intresting and strange (for a good way), but it's very disterbing my eye that is my opinion.
The catch is great!

Hi Stephen, I quite like the way one side of the head is in shadow, the exposure, DoF and detail are very good. I was photographing some of these at my local bird of prey centre the other day, maybe I'll post one later in the week.

You have succeeded in creating a very stark portrait of this caracara. Definitely would not want to mess with him. Very stern composure. Very sharp details in the front. Great light. TFS.

How distinctive and classy this strong and dominant composition is. The technical aspect is superior and so is the chosen subject.
I doubt I will like the full bird image as much as I enjoyed this bust portrait.
Wonderfull animals these caracaras, I can only hope to see them in my upcomming Patagonian trip.

Composition is exellent with the light coming from one side. In NL that's called "strijklicht" but I don't know what the proper word is in English. Very well done. Good details, POV & DOF. TFS!

Love the colour, the light is just subdued enough, I love the look in the eye and I love the crop. Looks like this place is a pretty nice zoo.
