Even with its back turned the "grabspider" is a formidable hunter.
Its "arms" stretch clear across the entire flower,
while the top four eyes < there are four others > spot all comers...

This shot was done just after a downpour, and it just started to rain again... The daisy's petals were slightly down which allowed me this capture.

Like the spider I will have to turn my back awhile, as I am heading West for a 5000km roadtrip. Unless I get stuck at a WiFi "hot-spot" , I will likely not be able to give or receive my daily Trekfix! ...

Ah the foibles of summer...

See you all later. And keep on Trekking!

Hi Jay,
AWESOME! Great large post shot!
Have a great trip!

Hey Jay!
Nice macro of your Crab Spider, the details are awesome. Nice DOF and even though it was raining the colours turned out well.

Were did the Balaclava go? It must be summer...maybe you should change the balaclava to a mosquito net...just a suggestion :D

TFS Janice

Hello Jay,
Interesting point of view, lowering to the level of subjects!
Pleasant composition, the spider is captured with fine details...
Seems like this is a smart guy who has found the best hunting ground possible!

:-) OK-

Good point of view Jay.
I remember one of these hanging on to my vehicle for about 30 miles one day. Never had seen one before that.
Love the panorama version. Can't find anywhere to upload one though.
Have a nice trip. D

If you travel the 401 stop at Lancaster exit and go south for only about 2 minutes and you will be at Cooper marsh.Free admission and many Km of trekking on trails and boardwalks.Very worthwhile.A Timmy's drive thru right off the Hwy ;)

Hi Jay

Hey trekker, seems like the great journey made you lazy or what? It's about 1½ weeks since you retured and no activities or postings from the long distance voyage to peruse yet. Not even on TL where the last update was some highly technological wireless mouse (chuckle).

Anyway, just love this rear view of the little crab spider and especially the panorama version. Great details, wonderful colours, and superb exposure on both the water drenched flower and the arachnid. The low POV pursued a very interesting angle on the image.

Well done and TFS.

Intéressant angle de vue. Je n'aimerais pas être le prochain insecte qui passe dans les environs.
Bonne journée.
PS Merci pour les informations !

Great POV; and the raindrops on the petals add a LOT of "interest" to the photo.
Am wondering if, while kneeling to capture this shot, you inadvertantly knelt on the mate of this specimen!! Hope you were watching where you were kneeling, and on whom.

Love the fresh color in this photo, and the camoflauge of the spider as he "mimics" his best advantage for hunting!

Nicely done.
