Mimcicry, bee or fly thats the question?

My first flying Bee.. at least I thought. Working on this posting it took me by surprise, there seems to be a fly wich looks like a bee.. called mimicry. Very smart since birds rather eat fly's than bee's. This phenomenan seems to happen on other insects as well

I found this dutch info, hope somebody can clear this matter.

Just found a posting of extramundi.. maybe its a hoverfly..
E. balteatus is one of our most common and widespread hoverflies throughout Britain, throughout most of the year and in a variety of habitats including urban gardens (though the photographs shown here are from chalk downland). It visits a variety of flowers for nectar, but seems to have a particular prediliction for dandelions (Taraxacum species).

Hi Reina,
Prima actieshot. Superscherp, zowel de insect en de bloem. Mooie details, prachtige kleuren, mooie achtergrond.

Hoi Reina,

Hello Reina,
Congratulations on a superb in-flight macro of a Hoverfly. Excellent sharpness, composition and BG.
Despite your sharp shot, the exact ID is difficult, but judging by the markings on the body and the yellow part of the face, I think this is Scaeva selenitica.
The flower is Tragopogon pratensis.
TFS and best regards, Ivan

Hi Reina,
Excellent composition of this fly. It is a beautiful Hoverfly but looks like a bee. Very good action shot and a excellent POV. Thanks a lot for sharing.
