Tall Lungwort

Growing down by the river I came across this impressive wildflower. The whole plant stood over 3 feet tall and was covered with dainty bell shaped flowers. Reading up I found that the flowers can range in colour from pink to blue and flowers in June and July.

The word Mertensia honors a German botanist. There are 35 to 40 species of of Mertensia in Eurasia and North America with 3 occurring in Alberta.

Hello Janice,
Here in Oregon and Washington we also have a species of this wildflower, and they are an odd flower to take a macro of!

Hi Janice, great shot of this Tall Lungwort. I had never heard about this plant, so I'm learning something today. Your square composition works well with the plant place on the left and open (but blurred area) to the right. Very effective use of your depth of field on this one. Great colour and detail on the plant itself.

Thanks, John

Hello janice !
It's been a long time since I last visited your gallery, there are so many beautiful pictures I didn't see ! :-) I like this one because these flowers grow everywhere near my home, and they belong to my favourite wild flowers. I like the shape of the flowers. Excellent details, nice natural colors, beautiful composition and POV and a nice blurred BG. Very well done !
