MONSOON FANTASY

Friends, having shot quite a few pictures of the monsoon clouds aboard a flight from Dubai to New Delhi recently, I feel tempted to post one more of them which, I presume, would look as interesting to you as it does to me.
Here is a brief note on monsoon season:

A monsoon is a rainy season which lasts several months and has lasting climatic effects. It refers to both the wet monsoon and the dry monsoon experienced periodically in the South East Asian continent. The term was first used in English with this meaning in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and neighbouring countries to mean the seasonal winds blowing from the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea in the southwest bringing heavy rainfall to the region. In hydrology, monsoonal rainfall is considered to be that which occurs in any region that receives the majority of its rain during a particular season, and so monsoons are referred to in relation to other regions such as in North America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Brazil and East Asia.
The English name Monsoon, was derived from the Urdu/Hindi word mausam meaning 'weather' in the time of the British Empire.
In terms of total precipitation, total area covered and the total number of people affected, the monsoons affecting the Indian Subcontinent dwarf the North American monsoon (also called the "Mexican", "southwest", "desert", or "Arizona" monsoon).
The definition includes major wind systems that change direction seasonally.
"Most summer monsoons have a dominant westerly component and a strong tendency to ascend and produce copious amounts of rain (because of the condensation of water vapour in the rising air). The intensity and duration, however, are not uniform from year to year. Winter monsoons, by contrast, have a dominant easterly component and a strong tendency to diverge, subside, and cause drought."

Hi Ram

What wonderful colours and textures of cloud you have presented us with here. The intense colours and cloud size demonstrate clearly the intensity of the rain fall.

Thank you for posting this unusual shot on TN.

James

hello Sir,
another shot from the window while coming back to India, If i am not wrong the earlier post of the clouds was shot from your good old sony p 200 and now this one with your new nikon d 200, seems like your camera bag was with you all the time and you have used it well,

the clouds look beautiful with the blue sky and the effect of light adds the beauty to the shot,

Hi ram,
what a lovely monsoon clouds, fantastic combination of colours, well capture.

Hello Ram! Excellent sky! Excellent clouds. Excellent colors. Best regards!

Hello Sir,
Its always like an amusement seeing these monstrous clouds from ground, also so frightening as well. You have provided an insight. Once travelling to Banglore from Pune last Sept, our plane went through clouds, lightning and thunder. I wouldn't lie, my heart actually came into my mouth.
This is amazingly beautiful. The DOF is just perfect. The bluish tint add drama to this pic. Beautiful beast!

Regards
Mahesh

I enjoy the interesting light, shapes, and textures in this sky-high Monsoon Fantasy Ram..I often look to the sky for an interesting shape or form, that my imagination can run with. What altitude did you take this at BTW?
Well done!

Hi Ram,
Wow, these cloud formations are stunning! I love the layers, the textures and range of colours in this! Beautiful visually, well done and TFS
Cheers Tina :-)

I must have missed this...As many folks will point out to me...my shots have a blue cast to them. Some or perhaps many of my shots are in blue or the focused object is blue or some variant thereof. And this picture makes such a dynamic vision in my mind...for blue is a significant color as I remember from my philosophy books, but I do not remember why...but beyond that, blue sets a feeling for me....in music..in vibration and I suppose obviously in pictures...A wonderful notion and thank you so much for breaking new ground!

Hi Ram,
You are still on cloud nine it seems and I can understand the hangover will take some time to go. The excitement is absolutely evident in your shot. Amazing cloud formations here and the colour tones are marvellous. You have managed to transport all of us to a dream sequence. Very nicely composed and presented. Kudos.
TFS.
