[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Eastern Tailed-Blue is the only tailed blue in the Eastern part of the US. It flies Spring to Fall and usually has 3 broods in a season. It can be found in meadows and flower gardens with flowers and seeds of legumes as food for the larva.

I took this photo in early May of this year and as you can see it is a fresh Blue as the tails are very much intact. As time goes on these tails are usually broken off from battle or just plain old worn off. This is a male as the female is more of a blackish color.

Wonderful colour, Lesley. Also great DOF and well composed. You were lucky to get such a co-operative subject ;-P

Really good image, colours are very good, and the background compliments the blue of the butterfly. Excellent.

great colors LEsley. The details are sharp and the dof is placed perfectly.

Lesley, Great shot of this blue one. Good sharpness, lighting and colours. Very well done. If any suggestion is to be made it could be to have a look at a closer crop. Cropping parts at borders could gve the shotmore focus. On the other hand I would like to maintain the small rock on the left in the shot.
Really nice shot.
greetings, Jan

Stunning image. The DOF is great and the colors wonderful. The above is all good, but what I like the most is the composition. Excellent work and thanks for posting

Beautiful capture of this chap with a background to set him off nicely. Great colours and details on the wings. Only small nit would be that the head seems to be slipping slightly outside the DOF range.

Lesley, this is a beautiful picture.

Great composition, bg, contrast and sharpness.

I have the feeling the butterfly is about to take off.
