Hello,

I wanted to try to give you a feel of what it is like on top of a Scottish mountain with this shot, so this is the view West from the summit of Cairn gorm.
Cairn Gorm lies at the northern end of the Cairngorm Mountains; a high and exceptionally remote plateau largely over 4000ft in height and segmented by deep north-south valleys. Cairn Gorm is Scotland's sixth highest mountain at 4082ft or 1244m high.
Its slopes provide Scotland with it's best Ski resort, and during the winter this is a much harsher and inhospitable environment. Even during the summer, this was still quite a cold spot and very exposed.
As you can see here, the weather is very changable and the clouds occasionally draw back to offer brief glimpes of large vistas, only to swallow them up again.

Hand held, shot in RAW and levels tweaked. Coverted to JPEG, resized for TN and sharpened.

Thanks for looking

Hi Paul

A very moody shot with great colours. It really gives an impression of what it is like.

James

Hi Paul, I can see the weather was a mixed bag for you but we take it as it comes and make the best out of any situation. Here you have captured a great atmosphere, I like the brown tones in the cloud and the incidental light which gives relief to the foreground. Well done..

Hello Paul,
Terrific capture of this barren environment. I can really feel the cold wind! I love the DOF with the sharp mountains in the distance and the misty clouds moving across and then the contrasting light on the ground. Colours are very beautiful too. Superb!
TFS and best wishes, Ulla

Hello Paul,
Having been away some days I missed several of your pictures. I would like to choose this pregnant landscape picture, because you show an amazing mix of landscape and weather, appearing in a beautiful light/shadow play. I like the dramatic character of this picture.
Thanks and have a nice weekend

Hi Paul!

Mountain atmosphere as I just like it. Everything is in that picture: a great sky (not a boring blue one), the view to the horizon, a great foreground and a very intense mystic atmosphere... Moreover one can literally feel the nature's power!

You managed the colors as well as the lightning and the perspective and the contrasts are breathtaking.

Regards
Markus
