[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One of the best catbird shots I've had a chance to make, showing the red area under the tail and even a little of the black cap. You may not be able to see it at this resolution, but you can actually see the window from which I took this picture in the eye. Unfortunately, as usual, not enough light in the afternoon due to the shade of the house to get a really fast exposure with good DOF. We have a large number around our yard this year, and they do sound like cats mewing.

Shot on a tripod, with the VR turned off.

A secretive, but curious skulker of dense thickets, the Gray Catbird is heard more than it is seen. Its rambling song contains imitations of other bird songs, but the characteristic "mew" that gives it its name is not an imitation and sounds only vaguely cat-like.

* Small bill.
* Long tail.
* Uniform gray all over.

nice colors great pose good background. focus seems a bit oversharpened or heavily cropped.

Hello Allan,
Very nice shot of this Catbird.
The pose of the bird with it's tail up, the catch light in the eye and the soft color tones in the background are beautiful while details in the feathers are wonderfully visible.
Sharpness is excellent, but it seems that the bird is a little over exposed on the head.
That's just a minor flaw though and does'nt really effect the beauty of the image.
Thanks for sharing.
Have a nice Sunday,
Harry
