Not the best of specimens Nick but you gotta take what's there. A good side view showing the "eye" and the composition is pleasant. Strong lighting brings out detail and the background is balanced. Best, Brat.

it is not necessary to show entirely intact specimens to achieve a good picture. Your picture is the proof. It shows a rather worn female of
Maniola jurtina (meadow brown). Very good focus on butterfly and flowers.

Hi Nick,
A very bright and colorful image. The POV and the angle of the butterfly in the composition are both excellent. Very clean and noise-free image. The focus is a tiny bit soft, but I suspect that this is a difficult butterfly to get good detail. It is a very good post.

Bonita imagen de la mariposa, toda inundada de luz y reflejos amarillos, con un fondo parecido y a la vez borroso que no molesta con las flores y el insecto. Tal vez algo suave de foco, o tal vez le falte más resolución a mi pantalla.

I am definitely a color eyed person.... brown and yellow are neither complimenting nor contrasting but it works well here. They appear to be more earth tones. This method allows the eye to focus where total focus is not achieved otherwise. Very nicely done and so noted as well.

Somehow I managed to miss this post.
Great butterfly shot! Wonderful colors and great details. I like it that our friend is a little rough around the edges. It shows that even those of us who are also rough and a bit worn out can be beautiful. ;D
