Wild blue flax
linum perenne L. ssp. lewisii (Pursh) Hult.
I love the colour of flax with it's dainty sky blue blossoms. There are over 100 species of flax world wide and 3 grow here in Alberta including one that has yellow flowers.
Natives used flax to treat boils, and an eye poultice was made by crushing fresh leaves and as a shampoo.

They are very dainty indeed, though they look just a shade soft to me (or is it my monitor?)

Hi Janice,
Beautiful photo of this lovely colored flower. The sunlight illuminated them perfectly. I like the group of flowers you captured. I think you did capture the first two in good focus, but it would have been nice if the one in the back would be sharp as well. You had enough speed to cranck up the f-stop.

Niek
Hello Janice,
Beautiful color, balance, and excellent choice of D/F. The image appears a little over exposed, but a very good image...

Hi Janice,
very lovely flowers, very soft and of a beautiful light-blue colour. I like the way they are against the dark background.
regards,
