The brown bear (Ursus arctos) is a species of bear distributed throughout the Northern hemisphere. Weighing up to 130–700 kg (290-1,500 pounds), the larger races of brown bear tie with the Polar bear as (the largest extant land carnivores. The grizzly bear (Ursus arctos horribilis), the Kodiak Bear (Ursus arctos middendorffi), and the Mexican brown bear are North American subspecies of the brown bear. However, DNA analysis has recently revealed that the identified subspecies of brown bears, both Eurasian and North American, are genetically quite homogeneous, and that their genetic phylogeography does not correspond to their traditional taxonomy. It is sometimes referred to poetically as the bruin.

He looks very intense, Annick, with his steady stare and mouth slightly open.
Beautiful gold highlights on the brown fur, all standing out nicely against the masterfully blurred BG.
I really admire the way you capture the expressions of the animals.
TFS. : )

Hello Annick

A beautiful portrait of this brown bear. The details are sharp with excellent focus. The POV is amazing with wonderful DOF.The colours and lighting are natural.Superbly done.TFS

Hello Annick,

This is another great animal portrait you're showing us here. I admire your perseverance in searching the best angle for your animal pictures. There are no signs that you've taken the picture in a ZOO as the backgrounds you always find are ideal for such beautiful portraits.
This particular bear seems to be a youngster to me but I'm not a bear specialist. The composition is excellent as usual. There are no distracting objects in your scene and the portrait stands out perfectly against the well blurred background. I'm trying to figure out where the light source was and I think it was coming from up and behind because it creates such a nice highlighted outline, especially in the mouth area. The exposure and focus are very good and the details are perfectly sharp. I guess the equipment helped a lot in obtaining the high quality of this picture. You mastered it with great skills. Thanks a lot!

With Friendly Regards,
