[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I have frequently said that the wilderness mountains are the place weather is created. This particular sky, taken at 3500 feet in the heavily treed Okanogan National Forest, is a good example of my notion. These are Cumulonimbus clouds which usually indicate rain. Native Americans knew and understood the earth and it's symbols in weather eons before white men set ashore. I was one to read everything I could about Native Americans. It is still a passion of mine. At one time I was named, honorably by a Hopi Elder Grandmother, Earthspeaker. I still go by that name in some close circles of the Rainbow Nation.

I stood and watched these clouds grow as Earthspeaker. They appeared to grow from my only horizon upwards fast, as though they had resulted from cataclysmic event....yet they did this each time I saw them in the highlands. At times these clouds did indeed bring moisture. Sometimes not. On this particular evening, the sun was setting fast as the clouds rose, in opposing directions...so I waiting quietly watching until the sun had disappeared enough, then took my picture.

My father followed weather before I did and past it along to me in oral tradition of Native Americans. I learned to watch for signs and when none appeared, I simply look for enjoyment. Many times these pictures remind me of songs I had written during my lyrical years...

Rain falls down from wrenching god's made angry. Only placate ways are hid in Bibles.
Thoughtful words forgotten long ago redeemed by precious few in smaller circles.
Payments due. Next in line. Stand before the Captain.
Back again. Try once more. Life in countless circles.
Stole their land, killed the lame. Put the rest in fences.
Send the guards. Keep them safe.
Buffaloes do dances.

Hi Bob,
A stunning shot with such astonishing clouds cover. The light behind the dark clouds create a fabulous effect making it look ravishing. The silhouetted trees add beauty and balance too. Wonderfully done........and the lyrics is so thoughtful, just love it (will definitely make a copy of it and keep it close to my heart). Superb composition. Kudos.
TFS.

Luis52.

Today I enjoyed two different formations of clouds. One is from Angybone and the next from you. Clouds are always in favour of the poets or the poets are intimate to the clouds, the debate is no need to elucidate unless thunder-storm affects. I can't sing but I tried to sing after watching the photograph and reading the 'Buffaloes Dance.

Hello Bob,
there is something you didn't do in your life? This shot is a creation of a balance between the dark and the light. The weather is not made, but only free...
Ciao,
Violetta

WOW! Breathtaking. Amazingly beautiful capture. TFS
