Subtitle: The path of wonders.

Yes, you are right.
It is the same path near my countryside house where I have met the fox and hedgehog (see Making decision, The made decision, The disturber of calmness) only above on 100 meters from that place. It is as in a fairy tale if you often go with the camera on the same path of wonders, you will see wonders.
(Note: I saw the hare 2 or 3 times before for many years. Once this hottest summer I even had camera but the hare sat under the bush at a deep shadow.)

After previous meetings (with other wild animals), I feel myself as a true photo-hunter. This time I followed the hare 7 minutes and have had time to take many pictures. I promised to tell about other strategy of behavior of animals at a meeting with the person. At last the hour has come.

I had taken a few pictures of this hare from far enough distance as it had seen me. The previous picture presented as a WS, shows, how the hare sits in some meditation (it sat so about 20 seconds). At the original picture, the moment when it had turned a head in my side and had seen me is embodied.

What will be reaction of the hare? I know and I think you cannot guess. I'll tell you about its strategy by next shortest series.

European Hare:

The European Hare or Brown Hare (Lepus europaeus) is a species of hare native to northern, central, and western Europe and western Asia.
It is a mammal adapted to temperate open country. It is related to the similarly appearing rabbit, which is in the same family but a different genus. It breeds on the ground rather than in a burrow and relies on speed to escape.
It is larger, longer-eared, and longer-legged than a rabbit. It has a body size of 50-70 cm and a tail length of 7-11 cm. The weight for a full-grown adult ranges from 2.5 to 6.5 kg. It can run at speeds of up to 70 km/h (45 mi/h). It is strictly herbivorous. It eats grasses and herbs during the summer months but changes to feeding on twigs, bark, and the buds of young trees in winter, making it a pest to orchard farmers.
Normally shy animals, hares change their behavior in spring, when they can be seen in broad daylight chasing one another around meadows; this appears to be competition between males to attain dominance (and hence more access to breeding females).
During this spring frenzy, hares can be seen "boxing". This is where hares strike one another with their paws. For a long time it had been thought that this was more inter-male competition, but closer observation has revealed that it is usually a female hitting a male, either to show that she is not yet quite ready to mate or as a test of his determination.
The hare is declining in Europe due to changes in farming practices. Its natural predators include the Golden Eagle and carnivorous mammals like the Red Fox and Wolf.
Smaller hares native to southern Europe previously regarded as European Hares have been split off as separate species in recent years, including the Broom Hare in northern Spain.

Хотелось бы чуть больше резкости и деталей, но за такие уши можно простить любые огрехи...

Wonderful ears... It seems ears are enough heavy to fall down, but they are standing like plastic ones.

Hi Alex
Great and very natural photo. Grass blades, different plants and Hare hidden and camouflaged in the field. Naturalism is the most important value of this picture. Also good composition ans sharpnes and very informative note
Best wishes

Hello Alexei,
Both these hare shots are amazing, the staring eyes making the viewer want to stare back! You can almost feel the hare thinking and wondering what that man with a strange pose and something in his hand is going to do.
I like the way the ears show up against the light piece of tree trunk behind.
Technically superb and beautiful composition.
Well done and thanks for sharing this one.

Fantásticos detalles y hermosa iluminación.
Buena nitidez y grandes contrastes muy suaves.
Saludos, JL.

You are getting some amazing shots! You must have great patience and be extremely quiet to get so close to all these animals. Of course the real skill then is to capture them as beautifully as you do. Pin sharp with lovely light and a great pose. As always a great note as well

Hello Alexei

Hi Alexei,
Great capture, the ears are so big!
The colours are great to, you must see the hare move because otherwise you will walk past it because he/she is well camouflaged.
Good focus and sharpness.

Hello Alexei,
A very nice dare you´ve portraited, with enourmous ears and nose. Good approaching to this nervous animal. The tree in Bg maybe not help too to the composition, but is a nice and interesting image

What an apparition with ears like big spoons.
Superb natural pictures( both are great). What a funny attitude. I wonder that it didn't run away quickly. But you seem to have a secret.
Excellent management of the light, like always.
I see sometimes hares , but I never could make any picture.

Alexei, WOW what a shot. I like the composition and also the PoV. The focus is pretty sharp and brilliant. Ganesh

Hi Alexei,
Well those big ears are hard to miss, towering above the brush "hare" ;}
This mammal is very well equiped to hear the sounds of approaching photographers..He was amiable I take it :)
Excellent reading as always,
Very well done mf.

Lol!!! I have never seen such big ears! What an amazing animal. I don't think that hare here have such long ears :) This is a very nice capture with funny expression from your lovely model. He seems very surprised to see you. This path is very busy Alexei, I wish I have a place like this here where I could see so many beautiful species. This is a beautiful composition with natural exposure and environment. The background is a little noisy, probably due to the use of ISO 400 but this is a minor nit for such a nice picture :) Thanks!

Privet Alexei,
This mate really have big ears!!!
And it seems to be large also in size.
I like the way it seems to be so alert and aware of your presence, and wondering what would be its final decision.
The focus is just the right one on the animal's head.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Hola Alexei,
