Amanita rubescens - portrait
[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Amanita rubescens in the Bükk mountains, in birch / poplar forest, not far from a ranch named Szentlélek. Edible, but only after 30-minute cooking, because unboiledly it's poisonous. May be confused with the poisonous Amanita pantherina, so a lot of people rather don't pick this one. If You cut the fungus, its flesh turns into red / brown, which isn't typical for A. pantherina at all (its flesh remains white after cutting or breaking). Quite common fungus here in late summer / early autumn.
More of my Amanita rubescens photos are HERE and HERE. |
