[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday it was a sunny but windy day, during my walk I noticed this Hawker (possibly a Migrant Hawker),I suppose it was a fresh one as he was not that active yet and was happy holding on to the reeds,I took my chance and after some full captures (I posted one for identification),I tried to get some close ups,as it was windy as said before and the reeds with hawker were on the move all the time I had to wait some time for a quiet moment, fortunately the hawker did not bother and I had my close up,hope you like it and tfw

Dear Paul
WOW! What a exciting photo. I think if you got any closer you would have posted a photo of this insects brain. Which I do not believe would have been as spectacular and striking as this post. I think any photographer dream to take a macro like this one. I am sure if I have the time, I would be able to count al itís hairs. This in a magnificent image, which deserves a round of applause.
You surely were very lucky with this one.
Thanks for sharing, it is much appreciated.
Warmest regards
Aaltjie

Hello Paul,

Hello Paul,
an exceptional macro shot of this Dragonfly's head.
This is almost definately a female Migrant Hawker.
I've always wanted to take a photo like this and have the equipment to do it (raynox DCR 250) but have got to sort out the DOF seeing as it's too shallow at the moment.
+++ Ultimate detail showing every hair and every lens on the eye. Very sharp, excellent colours, superb composition and a very effective tight crop.
--- Absolutely nothing :)
Very well done,
Joe

Hello Paul,

hi paul

Hello Paul,
This is an amazing sharp close macro allowing those of us who take dragonfly shots to see what the head really looks like close to: the eyes, the small hairs on the face and the jaws are great to see.
Well done: this is excellent!
TFS and best wishes, Ivan

As Joe says, this is a female A. mixta

Hoi Paul,

Fijne avond.
Paula

Hi Paul,
This is an excellent extreme close-up portrait. I don't think many here appreciate what it takes to get one like this..
Excellent POV, colors, DOF, sharpness, details, and use of flash to fill :)

Hi Paul

This is a splendid close-up here of this wonderful hawker head.
I took a look at your WS photo and from there it's more than clear that it is a Aeshna mixta, just as you initially suspected.
The details and textures here are impressive and the good flash management makes all the colors look very nice, too.
Well done, my friend!

Bravo and TFS
