Another image of one of the pair of Grizzly bears that live in a large enclosure on top of Grouse Mountain, North Vancouver (see my last posting).
More on grizzlies Ursus arctos horribilis): They achieve a large size - up to 680 Kg and stand up to almost 3 meters on their hind legs. In spite of their size they can run fast - up tp 55 KPH and can sustain that for longer than many animals.
They extend from Alaska down the West Coast of Canada and USA to about Yellowstone, but are most frequent here in Canada. They are omnivorous.
I had always thought that they are a golden brown colour, but these two on Grouse Mountain are much darker, one being almost black. It turns out that there is quite a variety in fur colouration.

Hello John

This is a lovely image of a fierce grizzly in a non threatening situation I think everyone can relate to.The expression is sheer comfort. The colours are rich and well saturated. The reflections in the water are wonderful.Excellent focus and details. The shot is well composed,I really like how the shot is framed by the grasses.TFS
