Genus: Hypsypops
Species: rubicundus
Commonly called the Garibaldi, this is the state (saltwater) fish of California, where it is typically found. However, this one was found in a tank at the Georgia Aquarium, where I took this picture.
It is classified as a subtropical species and lives in the cooler waters along the coast of california where it feeds primarily on invertibrates and can grow to be 30 centimeters in length and live for about 20 years.

Hi,
This is a very very nice and sharp picture. Is this underwater photography, or did you take it through a tank ?
I love the colors, they are so rich and the composition is just right.
