[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is Lake Kaniere,a small lake just inland from Hokitika here on the West Coast of the South Island.
This area gets a LOT of rain,so the lakewater is refreshed constantly.
Its actually been raining here now nearly every day for several weeks.
There is one spot not far from this lake where they got as much rain in one year as Auckland (in the North Island) gets in 13 years.
And Aucklanders think it rains a lot there!
The forest around the lake is mixed broadleaf and podocarp forest with a good proportion of beech,and undergrowth of tree ferns,coprosmas,pittosporum and other smaller natives.

Superb depth of view in this lovely landscape image, Steve.
The water is so placid it looks like mirror and reflects the hills and trees like one.
Excellent eye soothing nature colours.
Would love to be at your side to view this sight with my own eyes.

This is a lovely reflection image. I like the way the trees are curling around the image, great composition.
So peaceful looking and the left area of the image with the trees and beach looks beautiful.

This is a perfect reflection shot. Your POV is so good that you create a superb depth of view. Lovely sweeping curves. The sandy beaches around the lake gives a good separation between land (trees) and the water. A great composition. I like this one very much. Interesting notes. Good work. Regards and TFS BOB

Hi Steve

This is a lovely landscape and a very harmonious composition you managed to create here!
The view across the motionless lake makes the entire scene look very tranquill and pacefull. Also, they way those banks there look, makes we just want to go there and look for everything there is to shoot, becasue i'm sure that there are tons of interesting insects and some other cool animals...in opposition to here, now, when everything just dies or goes to sleep.
Anyway, wonderful work!

This is one of the places I would be if I had the time and years left to see all things. My list is long.

The reflection? The mountains? There is something as if a message in this picture. Last night when I first saw it, I mentioned gold. It was an extemporaneous mention. It was knee jerk..and I ended up being right. I think that is because there is a message in this image Steve. Perhaps even you didn't see it. But you must have felt it beyond the reflection and the scope, you felt something when you took this..I know you did.

Fantastic view. The calm waters have brought out a superb reflection of the mountains and trees and it gives an excellent perspective. Great lighting and exposure. I like your POV to portray this charming scene and very nicely composed. Kudos.

A beautiful image with excellent clarity.The reflection is the water is mirror like.The focus is sharp with very good illumination.You have chosen a very good POV,and composed the shot very well.TFS
