Ignorant as I am I would have expected this to end with the spider winning the battle! Wasps are a huge and fascinating group of insects, we saw one new to us yesterday! Your presentation is excellent, very clear and showing sharp details. Most interesting too!

Widze, ze dzis obaj postanowilismy pokazac cos z blonkowej i do tego obie blonkowki prowadza podobny tryb zycia :)
Podoba mi sie to, ze w prezentacji widac calosc akcji, moze mniej, ze zdjecia sa tak male (ale wsumie TN mocno ogranicza wielkosc plikow wiec i jakos musiala byc nizsza). Sam moze jednak zlozylbym zdjecia troche inaczej - gorne skadrowal pionowo i dal z lewej strony, dwa pozostale tak jak sa i dal jedno pod drugim z prawej. Moze by to pozwolilo powiekszyc troche zwierzaki?

Hi Michal,
the pictures are a feast for the entomologist in me. In the upper part you had some problems with the strong light and the stark shadows, but I guess you know that and your other pictures are not troubled by this any more. Well done!

This is a superb collage of macros that is well worth taking out of your archive to show us. The collage sequence of the Spider-hunting Wasp catching its prey is superb and is both educational aas well as an interesting cobtributuion to TN.

Absolutna rewelacja! Miales niezlego farta, ze udalo ci sie zobaczyc i sfotografowac cos takiego. Czytalem o tym wielokrotnie, ale nigdy nie widzialem. Zawsze mnie ciekawilo, jak zachowuje sie pajak podczas takiego ataku? Czy sie broni, czy tez moze instynktownie wie, ze jest skazany na porazke? Ze zdjec widze, ze osa ma prosta taktyke - atak z boku. Ale przeciez te pajaki maja doskonaly wzrok i sa bardzo szybkie. Napisz cos wiecej, bo post jest rewelacyjny, ale czuje duzy niedosyt informacyjny :-)

great documentation of this battle at Macro level! You must havea keen eye for spotting this type of thing. Each shot is great in it's own right and helps tell the story. Fascinating.

Hi Michal

This is a very interesting a attractive series! It's not everyday we get to see a spider-hunting wasp kill a spider in action. Your series of shots presents that so well.
The details in your pictures are terrific! I also love the poses of the two "actors" here - especially the spider with first typical defensive posture, then attaced and finally on the back.
