Never fails this time of year, the air is getting colder the lakes are warm and the air masses around them start protesting as the winds start changing. Its a frustrating time of year for the Guys out on the Lakes on the ships. Also a frustrating time of year for the wife of a Great Lakes Ship Captain when shes waiting for him to come home! My Husband has given me a record number of ETA's ( Estimated time of arrival with the emphasis on ESTIMATED) the last trip. Gale winds are between 35-47MPH and can do what you see here bend trees over and cause some limbs of trees to break, can also cause big waves on the lakes, yesterday we had 10 footers out on Lake Erie.
So because of that ships were anchored in a safe bay around the corner one of them the ship to unload before My husbands so it looks like I will have yet another delay!

Thanks for visiting my gallery I'll be popping in now and again while there is a Hockey game on TV..:o)
or football...ha ha

BTW storm winds are even higher with the winds at 55-72 MPH

Then a hurricane at 73 MPH and up.

If you want to see effects of a Storm on Lake Erie you can check out the December Storm last december on my website.

Hi Donna,
A beautiful glimpse from the lake Erie!
I like very much the mix of colours here, the warm ones of the trees, the green of pines and the blue of water at the back.
You made a beautiful framing with all that elements.
Hope that winds slow dawn pretty soon and your wait will be over.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Hi Donna.
I am impresses with your ability for selection of subject for shooting and POV. Very cute, excellently cropped and reproduced picture of this fine place. Despite the wind and hardly noticeable blurriness shot is so poetic and elegant. My compliments and TFS.

Hello Donna,
Nice composition of a windy scene showing fine action both of the tree and branches bending in the wind as well as the waves on this Lake Erie shore. Nice side lighting too.
Your note reminds us that modern technology does not prevent the dangers of being out on board a ship in heavy winds and of the worrying crew wives.
Thanks for sharing this one,

Hello Donna

You must get yourself a windmill.A wonderful capture of the effects of the wind.
The lighting is very good and the colours are bright.
I like the waves and the bending of the tree, very nicely composed.
The orange and reds of the leaves make a nice autumn look.

Hi Donna,

A nice image of lake Erie waves coming to shore, the photo has a good composition, sharpness and nice colors. thanks for sharing.

Well, here we go again. The seasons are rolling around again and soon I suppose we will be seeing winter on your lake again. You do get the winds there!... which you really captured in this shot along with some nice fall color.

Evelynn : )

Hello Donna,
Seems like the autumn storms are kicking in!
The trees get a tiny motion blur from the wind, and the waves are washing the shores of Lake Erie...
Good capture of the action, in an image telling that summer is over for now!

Hi Donna,
You've capture the gale very well! How did you managed to hang onto your camera for a shot like this? Very good colors, contrast, exposure and sharpness. Good job!

Hello Donna,
I don't envy you being married to a caption who is out on the rough lakes! We've been stuck in the storm on the North Sea once which was horrendous. Hopefully your husband is back with you soon.
Lovely composition showing movement and lovely colours.
TFS and regards, Ulla

i like composition, point of view, lighting and colours

Hello Donna,
We really feel the wind, cold and movement in this beautiful scenery. I like those tones of colors, natural exposure, framing and composition. We had a little snow here lately 40cm and still going on :) Thanks,

I really like this Donna. You've pulled together a picture over a large area of subjects. Very good eye. Most people would have just walked by it. I find it a refreshing picture with the waves breaking in the leaves. TFS Trevor
