I will continue on my ice theme with images from last winter…

Opposite to what you may think this is not a frozen waterfall!

The water comes from melting snow and rain that may fall during periods with a temperature varying around 0C, and the icicles are building from the lower temperature inside themselves.

So what you see here is not the result from extremely low temperatures, but rather the opposite as the structures require flowing water to form!

Hi Pablo,
very nice diagonal composition and POV that really gives the feeling of height and looking up at these amazing ice formations. The blue sky and white wispy cloud in the BG adds the theme here of water in it's various states. Top work on the exposure too.
Paul

Hi Pablo!

What makes this picture special and outstanding are the lines of the ice formation continued by the ones of the clouds. The surprising, yet interesting diagonal point of view underlines this effect.

Kind regards

Markus

Hi Pablo
Nature has created a beautiful and unique sculpture of ice. I love frozen waterfalls with all their different colours, textures and the way the light hits them. Well done against the blue sky.

Hello Pablo,
Lovely composition in this image showing ice formations on a rocky cliff. I like the alternation of ice and rock and the diagonal tree-line at the top. The presence of brownish iron salts is evident in one of the formations, which adds extra interest.
Thanks for sharing this fine shot and for your kind words on my 300th!
Best wishes, Ivan

Hi Pablo

Agreat - and very effective POV - I especially like way you have counter balanced the form of the ice with the clouds.

selam pablo; Excellent shot of this mountain .Nice composition.Good POV and sharp image whit nice details.splendid Colors. well done.
TFS ridvan

Nice patterns in organic energy....also we have a bit of that up in my mountains, although not nearly as dramatic as this image shows. I am wondering as to what coloured the H2O in the center, whether it be simply ground or some other "thing". The different colour helps the image...Nice addition Pablo!
Bob

Hi Pablo, fascinating composition with splendid frozen sculptures, superb sky, wonderful colors, very well done, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Hello Pablo,

I saw this some years ago in Switzerland. I saw in the western part on the Pre-Alpes the same process. And also I take a few photo's, but not so nice as yours. Great POV and BG. The diagonal composition is very special. It's create depth (high) in the picture. The colours are very natural. You can see on the brown color of the middle fall that it is not a real waterfall. When it is a frozen waterfall, the icecolour is mostly clear. It is a sharp and beautiful compo. Thanks. Have a nice weekend and TFS BOB

Hello Pablo,
Very artistically with diagonal composition, just beautiful!

Hi Pablo.
I am afflicted a bit, that you have removed your previous nice picture.
This one is perfect to and reminds us that the winter will come tomorrow. You have pictured a very attractive nature phenomenon with superb details and colour palette. I am interested is the turn of the image natural or you have rotated it? Excellent job and my best wishes.

Hello Pablo

An interesting effect. It certainly does look like a frozen waterfall, but I have seen this same effect on rock outcroppings here too in the Winter months.
I like the low POV and the wide perspective.
The sky above is wonderful and the clouds seem to radiate.
Nicely done.

Hi Pablo,
this photo sure is an attractive composition with the diagonal slant to it.The face of the rock wall looks to be a rather difficult one to climb judging from the vertically of the ice.I like the colour and the clear focus giving interesting details. Thanks for this wintry image. Bob

Hi Pablo,
I love the odd angle of this photo. It feel as if the icewall is about the fall on top of you. Its probably enhanced by the lines of the clouds. The different colors of the ice are very interesting. Great details and expose.

Hi Pablo, nice shot of the icefall. This will be nice in March when the sun hits it and it's flowing. I've seen these in a few locations in Ontario (Canada) where there are some decent rock cuts. There are some I understand, that people climb. I still don't have a picture of one though. This is good. It brings back some good memories.

Thanks, John

Pablo,

Interesting and good diagonal composition.
At first it looked a bit skew, but I changed my mind.
Light and colors are good and I like those cirrus clouds making the upper right more interesting.

Hi Pablo

As i've been saying lately in my critiques, i've been very busy these past few weeks and therefore i ask kindly for your pardon and understanding in missing some of your lovely photos.
Yet, i made some time this weekend and i'm trying to catch-up at least with one photo/member :)
I saw this one and it immediately attracted me! It's really terrific!
It actually reminds me of a same place i saw last winter in one of my trips in the mountains; unfortunately, i didn’t take any photos of it :(
Anyway, this is some impressive scene and i love how everything here resembles those "frozen waterfalls" (even though they are not that as you aslo told in your note).
The difference in their sharp is minimal and i love the fact that it also the clouds seem to mimic the same geometry.
The exposure - although difficult - is very well balanced and the use of the polarizer is excellent. Also the low-angled POV creates a very beautiful composition.
Great work my friend!

Bravo and TFS

Hello Pablo,
What a splendid capture of these icy rocks. This reminds me of a stretch of motorway along Lake Vättern on the way to Stockholm where the rocks used to look like this along the route. Very dramatic but dangerous when it starts thawing! Excellent capture, very sharp details and beautiful colours. I like the tilt and the blue sky.
Well done!
