I have already posted several images showing the main river in my part of the world, Gaula.

This one is to show where the journey of the salmon ends, as this waterfall is too large for the powerful fish! This is Eiafossen (-fossen = waterfall), some 110 km from where the river exits into the fjord…

However that does not stop the salmon from trying, and if you go at the right time you can see fish making attempts to pass the waterfall!

Most of the salmon will die after the first spawning, but a few maybe 1 out of 10 will make it back to the Atlantic Ocean again.

During the first stay in the ocean the salmon can put on up to 10 kg, and during the second stay up to another 10 kg. Salmon over 20 kg are very rare, and most likely they have been three times or more to the ocean to reach such a weight.

As long as the fish stay in the river they don’t eat at all, as they are totally focused on the task at hand!

Hi Pablo,
another great slice of your beautiful country for us to gaze upon. Great POV, lovely lush green and the river pouring inot the canyon adds some nice movement. A nice summer shot to see on a cold, bleak winters day here in the UK.
Paul

Hello Pablo,
Fine composition and lighting in this waterfall landscape. I like how the rocky cliff tapers towards the waterfall.
Maybe the salmon manage the waterfall during dry periods. It would be a challenge to take a shot of them leaping.
Well done and thanks for this fine glimpse into a Norwegian summer.

Hi Pablo

I like the way you have used the sloping cliff to lead the eye to the waterfall - very effective. The colours are lovely too and the detail excellent.

Salmon.....3x per week...wild, Alaskan....= health. It is an important part of the food chain in this place....And a nice picture of it's home as well..or at least a part of it's journey. Nice detail in the large granite boulders. Almost dwarf trees give depth! Great lighting. Good day for pics..

Hello Pablo,
Splendid image of a powerful landscape, the colors and depth of field are great as is the composition. I would love to be the owner of the cabin at the top of your image as I'm sure they fall asleep each night with the flowing waters in thier ears.

Hi!
Nice composition of this waterfall, and a lot of different shades in green! Good contrasts and colors.
Make me long for summer!

Jon :-)

Beautiful.... crisp air, green, so clean looking. I often traveled in cities, drab, filled with misery to our eyes. It's funny, but traveling alone, I am not afraid in cities, but afraid to hike by myself in mountains...... Even where I live, I have never walked alone to take pictures, and I want to.

Hi Pablo. I can almost hear the roar of this powerful waterfall. Good composition and interesting notes. TFS. Murray.

Hola amigo.
Un lugar precioso, el ruido debe ser ensordecedor...
Preciosa imagen llena de contrastes entre el cielo, el verde con sus diferentes tonos, las rocas y el agua.
Original PoV y buena nota.
Hasta pronto, JL.

Hi Pablo,

Hello Pablo
What a splendid shot of this marvellous place!! It´s very impressive that salmons can pass that strong waterfall! I like a lot the POV showing part of the fjord with that stunning cliff and beautiful trees and rocks. Magnificent sharpness and wonderful colors and composition.
Thank you very much for sharing.

Hi Pablo,
A wonderful end to a journey along your river. It has shown us some of the most beautiful nature areas in Norway. This photo also shows the power of the water and how it is able to shape rock. Wonderful fresh summer colors and a great natural environment. The fall does look a bit too bright.
TFS,
Niek

Hi Pablo,
I sure do like this image and most waterfall pictures in general.I guess that if the salmon could make it up this waterfall they would have to be the size of cattle, lol!Lovely light and good details present well with your crop make this place eye candy in my opinion.Tfs. Bob

Hello Pablo,
Landscape is so beautiful. I liked the POV, composition, details and the vivid colors. TFS

The view of the fall from your perspective is awe-inspiring, Pablo. This looks like a huge river and I'm just terrified of its dark bluish-green mass just ahead of the fall. You see, I suffer from some water phobia!
The surrounding rocks, trees and the green valley in the background, however, are beautiful enough to give me a sense of pleasure.
Thanks for sharing it and warm regards.

Hi Pablo,

Hallo Pablo
An absolute refreshing and serene scenery to look at and enjoy. I would have loved to be there to witness this peaceful view, to smell the freshness of the falling water. This water stream is indeed a beautiful landscape, and I am sure you enjoyed photographing it, as much as I have admiring it. Very stimulating to look at. I like the cottage far in the distance very much. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna
