The Bushbuck (Tragelaphus scriptus) is an antelope that is found in forest and woodland throughout Sub-Saharan Africa.

Bushbuck stand about 90 centimetres at the shoulder and weigh from 30 to 80 kilograms (depending on sex). Bushbuck have a light brown coat, with up to seven white stripes and white splotches on the sides. The muzzle is also white. Horns are found only on the males and they can reach over half a metre with only one twist.

Bushbuck are found in all types of bush, from open forest to dense woodland. They eat mainly browse but supplement their diet with any other plant matter they can reach. Bushbuck are active around 24 hours a day but tend to be nocturnal near human habitations. Bushbuck tend to be solitary, though some live in pairs.

All bushbucks live within a "home" area they will not normally leave this area, which is usually around 50,000 square metres on the savannah and much larger in the forest. These areas usually overlap other bushbuck home areas.

Hello Annick,
Splendid image well captured in it natural surroundings. As always your camera work is impecciable resulting in a sharp well exposed image, thanks Annick.

I am busying looking through you camera settings here. White balance on auto works well. I am constantly doing white balance sets...not sure if that is the right approach since it can be slightly altered in PP, but since I dealt with black and white for so many years, white balance was not something I needed to worry much about. It is new...and it is looking right one here..
Very sharp deer and brought out well against eh backdrop and fore. A critical yet good depth of focus. It appears you like that lens and know how to use it well...

Well captured in a natural setting.

Magnificent detail on the buck's coat and superb composition. I am amazed at the focus you achieve on all your photos considering you were almost certainly not able to use a tripod seeing you were in the vehicle when taking them.
