[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I went to Jasper National Park this past week as I suspected (correctly) that the Big Horn Sheep rut would be on. This big ram was fixated on a particular ewe and chased her around for hours. She would dodge and dash and maneuver away from him, and finally ran up a steep rock face to try and get away from him. The ram took the high ground to cut off her escape. The ewe is between me and the ram so although the POV looks like he is intent on me, in fact, he is very intent on the ewe who is about 15 feet in front and above me.

Moments later this guy did some horn bashing with another ram that had followed them both up the rock face. I got the shot, but....the steep angle on the point of view takes away from the impact (no pun intended).

Unlike the bull Elk in rut, the Big Horn rams don't seem to mind the presence of photographers. I was maxed out at 300mm, and fairly low light at 1/400th.

Hi John, what an adventure, it's incredible how you get into the wildlife to take your pictures! This is an excellent shot and I love the angle of view in diagonal. Great composition and natural colours, congratulations once more for a real and stunning picture. Great notes. Thanks,

Well... You did it again!! You have a real knack for getting a story along with an image. The expression here is priceless.
Wonderful work. The verticals in the background and the angle in the foreground add to the impact.

Evelynn : )

Hi John,
this is a fine capture of the ram and he does look intent and it is good he is eying an ewe instead of you.A good composition with an interesting POV plus good details.Tfs. Bob

Hello John,
Splendid image with great camera work. It's a good thing they don't find you threating as with that hardware I think it may hurt a touch. Great work John, thanks.
