Very welcome to TrekNature. I hope you will enjoy this site even more now that you finally have become a full member. I really hope that you will grow with love, skill, and knowledge of photography and that your photography will grow to full bloom with the aid and assistance of all the wonderful members on this site.

Apart from the fact that you took a beautiful shot of this kingfisher I think I should reserve my critique and leave it up to the other members since I did the PP for you and obviously might be biased.

Welcome as a member to the site. I am sure you arleady know your way around the place so it shouldn't take you long to settle in and enjoy it completely. You surprised us with a lovely photo of this kingfisher. For one who have not been taking photos yourself since only a couple of weeks ago you actually gave us a great image. Nice sharp focus and plenty of spectacular colours. I missed my chance to meet you last year in October as we were both operating in Kruger. I suppose we were too busy photographing.
Very good first image. I'm even a bit jealous 'cause I couldn't get one Kingfisher in 3 weeks time. Missed a few opportunities:-).

Aaa, ek sien die ander helfte het toe ook bygekom. Hie, hie, ek sal maar saam speel en versuim om jou die beter helfte te noem aangesien dit blyk dat daar 'n mate van liefdevolle antagonisme of vriendskaplike wedywering by die wederhelfte bestaan. Dit is hoekom mans vanaf Mars kom. Hulle wil mos altyd alles in 'n kompetiese laat ontaard. Baie welkom by Trek Nature. Jy is baie meer waagsaam as ek. Ek het nog nie genoeg moed bymekaar geskraap om my eie fotos te laai nie, alhoewel ek weet dat dit sekerlik goed genoeg sal wees. Op hierdie stadium verkies ek egter om net na al die mooi fotos te kyk en dit te geniet en leer ek daagliks ontsettend baie deur om die ander mense se kretieke te lees, na die werkswinkels te kyk en daardie stappe te probeer nadoen en ook al die kosbare raad in die notas. Ek het egter meestal vasgesteek by Loot se fotos en notas. Ek dink hy is los hande die beste storie verteller op Trek Nature.

Jy het egter 'n pragtige voël hier beet. Die foto verklap geensins dat jy splinter nuut in die veld van fotografie is nie. Pragtige werk en ek het jou nota ook baie geniet.

This is a terrific first photo to begin you adventure here with!
Kingfishers are very attractive birds and even if they were photographed a lot of times, it's always a pleasure to watch a well taken shot such as this one!
I very much like the details you managed to get here, due to the impressive close-up level.
It's colors are lovely and definitely enhanced by the great light in that spot. I find the patches of sunlight on its head great and they definitely set it apart from the other kingfisher photos.
Very good DOF chosen for such a subject, too and very a complete note about the bird, too (loot has thought you well :))

Beautiful photo.
I have tried and failed miserably, many many times to get a half decent photo of the beautiful kingfishers I have seen in India.
This photo is very clean and clear and can help give inspiration to amteurs such as myself.
I have been lugging my camera about with me on my tiger travels for a few years now, but I never get that perfect photo, so I am always looking to improve.
I will always keep trying and maybe one day I will get somewhere near such a great result as your photo here.

Love this one, not many kingfisher here in Canada at least I have not seen one.
Gorgeous shot indeed, the pose is fabulous and the light brings out the details perfectly.

Every life has a calling and its answered when the right moment comes.And sometimes our lives have not just one calling, there might quiet a number of them...and I guess this was one of them for you. And going back to your first posting after looking at and critiquing many of your more recent posts, am delighted to say that your presence has enriched this site.You have focussed not just on posting but also on bringing in elements of note writing and producing critical and constructive evaluation at your end. I think this is where members have been able to connect with you despite you being here for a shorter period compared to many others.I congratulate and appreciate your achievement and look forward to your presence in the times to come.

Kingfishers are one of most seen birds but they also come in such diverse and intriguing kinds that they are so wide spread across the world. Through this debut posting you present one which i have not seen here in India. The sharpness, colours and clarity is brilliant and the lighting used in perfect manner. There is a quizzical expression i notice on its face, maybe thinking "what is the lady upto?" ...and So fate had it that the kingfisher sat close enough for you to get a great capture and thus started your journey in TN.

So wish you good luck and good cheer and i say life is good and there is so much more to do...

Nice picture of the king fischer. Its beak is really big compared to the one that exists in sweden.
Godd technical quality and nice colors, but i do feel that i could use som more air to the left. It feels a little tight.

This particular fellow looks like he was sitting right next to you and didn't mind a bit that you were taking his picture.
