[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
No the Scarlet Macaw is not native to Bali! I got this while visiting the Bali Bird Park. It is a magnificent bird. Of course much more thrilling when seen in the wild.

A member of the parrot family the Scarlet Macaw can reach speeds of 35 miles per hour. They often fly in pairs or small groups and often call to each other in raucous hoarse voices.

Macaws appear to prefer higher elevations and riparian (riverine) forests. They are known to have very large territories. They prefer to nest in holes high up in trees and lay one or two eggs. They feed on specific fruits such as polewood, roaming large areas searching for clumps of their favorite foods.

In many parts of Central and South America the Scarlet Macaw is endangered. For example in Belize it is estimated there is only 100 birds still in the wild. Unfortunately, it is a victim of human greed - many have been taken as a commodity in the pet trade.

Hi Chris. This is beautifully sharp. The BG is a bit distracting because it is so bright and the tail feathers are a little dark - maybe treat with shadow/highlights in PS? It is a great image though. It is beautifully sharp with fantastic colour, detail and very well composed. I like your choice of DOF, it works well to focus attention on the bird. Thank you for posting it for us, it has brightened my day :)

Nice shot. Only nit is the end of the tail is missing. Apart from that this is a great shot. Good POV, sharpness allowing great detail. A very pretty bird. Thanks

Sharp and colorful. The end of the tail is cut out, but the rest is perfect for me. Beautiful.
