[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Fastest land insect in the world (tiger beetle) taking a pose before sprinting at a speed of about 5.6 mph. To convert its relative speed into human terms, a 6-foot man would move about 1026 feet per second or approximately 1/5 of a mile per second or 720 mph. This speed almost breaks the sound barrier at sea level (732 mph). Believed it, or Not???

Camera set-up
Canon 20D, Tamron 180mm, f18, 1/3sec, ISO400, flash 580EX, lens hood and battery gripped were detached from my camera and my body lying flat on the ground. Waiting patiently....

Hello Leo!
Amazing portrait of this tiger beetles (do you have picture presenting this specimen from different point of view? I would be able to say something about name of the species :>). Lovely sharpness and details. I like a lot also perfect eye-contact.
By the way, please feel free to visit my tiger beetle saga, in one of this presentation some data about the fastest species of Cicindelidae are given :)
I would like to add this picture to the theme tiger beetles of the world, I hope you will agree for that :)
Thank you for showing this wonderful picture!
Best greetings from Poland,
Radomir
