[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In July the mountain goats of Glacier Park make their way down to areas rich with minerals that they need. These areas are called "goat licks". I worry that they are vulnerable to bear attack when they have left the safety of the high, rocky mountain ledges. I would think that bears would lie in wait for a wayward kid. However think that mom's horns would be a deterrent.

Hi Evelynn,
there is little that is as charming as a photo of a young animal with it's mom. This photo looks like it gave you a challenge as it must of been hard to get the exposure with the white of these goats and the darkness of the background, you have done well and this is the sort of thing I love seeing. Thanks for these two lovelies. Bob

I had some friends how were separated on Amtrak...just east of here because the husband was an illegal...interesting...but....it is a great place to be in summer, I guess unless you're a goat!!..not in winter!

Hi Evelynn,
Wonderful capture of a Mother and Kid (no pun intended) in there natural surroundings, excellent detail and taken from a good POV, the exposure is spot on considering the whites of the goats fur, and the detail of the rocks and the pines, just beautiful, well done all the best Cheers Rick :)

hello evelynn,
nice capture of the two of them, the mother looks quite protective about the baby and her attention towards you is the proof of that, liked the pov and the composition,
well done,
tfs & regards

Wow, Evelynn, what a shot!
Beautiful family portrait.
Both mom and kid seem weary, which is good.
Great details. How far away were you?
Excellent view of both faces.
TFS. : )

I like where they are placed in the composition. I would not worry much about bears with these goats. They can spring away and be back on an inaccessible ledge in no time.

Superb shot of these Moutain Goats!
I'm sure the mother and her horns could deter a Bear and I don't think such a big animal would chase these agile Goats across rocky cliffs!
Sharp with good detail and clarity.
Excellent composition.
I see you use the dream lens! Lucky thing! :-)

Thanks for sharing this Evelynn,

Joe

Hi Evelynn.
Very touching scene and amazing quality of its reproduction. I like the double scenery grey stone ground and poor vegetation. Image of the animal family is great as well as the poses of the animal, reproduction of the hair and their colours. I also like impressive lights and darks and superb composition.
My best wishes and TFS.
Alexei.

Hello Evelynn , A very lovely photo from mother and child ,great sharpnes details compositie colours pov and bg ,fantastic shot ,tfs Greetings Teunie .

Hi Evelynn,
A beautiful capture showing these gorgeous animals in their rugged environment. I wouldn't worry too much for jr, they seem more agile in their surroundings rather than a bumbly bear, although I personally wouldn't under estimate the bears physical abilities. :)

Ohhh goats! Nicely exposed with plenty of detail in the whites.

Hi Evelynn,
What a wonderful image of shaggy Mom and beautiful offspring. I too worry for the goats as alot of salt licks are near roadways with lots of traffic. Great details in the white fur and a wonderful composition, thanks Evelynn.
