The other day I was walking to take pictures of some Saddam statues and I came by these flowers. I was shocked because these are the first flowers I have seen in this country lol.

Beautiful, Phil, now I need a spelcheck for the name - beaugainvilla from S Sa as far s I know, this like dry climates, they flower better!

wow! and what pretty flowers they are! The bright pink flowers, vivid green leaves and blue sky... very nice! Thanks for sharing and be careful over there!

Actually, I think the spelling is Bougainvilla ;-)) Good sharpness, colours are great against the clear blue sky. Nice diagonal.

Now is that a sign of better times ahead, I sure hope so. It is at least a good sign that you noticed them and had time to capture them for the rest of us. This should be awarded some press photo of the year from Iraq prize, then maybe people would start planting trees instead of bombs. Stay safe, Phil.

Very nice one, Phil, a pretty sight that is sure outside what we get presented "on the news". Beautiful close-up with the bright red, green and blue color hues. Thanks for showing this piece to us, and stay safe.

Funny, clever title Phil...
The colors are brilliant! Both in the flowers and in the beautiful sky. Great composition as well. I'm sure glad you found these. Sad to say, I never saw many flowers while being out to sea for 160 days straight on the USS Theodore Roosevelt...:)Lots of jellyfish though. You're lucky! j/k It's a good thing you captured these beauties! I can almost smell em'...
Thank you for serving and good luck out there.

Hi Philip, these Bougainvillea look so bright they must have stood out so well in Iraq. Great capture, especially against the blue sky. Very well shown, thank you.

Bougainvillea! Beautiful as usual, and I am glad they grow in Iraq too.
