Hello again

I know i'm a bit behind with my critiques, but i have a god reason: i went to the mountains again :)
(i will try to get back to them as soon as possible)

This time no more Murphy's law and...IT WAS BEAUTIFUL!
Sun shining all day, good snow up on top...all the ingredients for a superb day out with my cousins and nephews...and for shooting :)

It was way too much fun watching the kids having fun with the snow so i didn't do a lot of landscapes, but i did walk up (as quickly as possible) to the top of the mountain for some nice views. The biggest problem up there was a nice clear window for some panoramas; i was surrounded by trees and couldn't get any grand view of the low lands from up there :(
Still, i found this somewhat opened spot and after taking some shots, i had to resort to improvising, simply because i found my 17mm lens not wide enough. So what i did, in order to capture what you see here, is i took 4 shots on the vertical with the exposure locked and stitched them together :)
It may have small imperfections...but after that steep climb, i'm too tired to check :) Hope you don't mind...

Now, since this is a stitch, there is not photo info, but since i had the same settings for all the photos, i punched in the numbers at the end of the note...for whom it may concern :)

Hope you'll like it!

I am amazed that you have done a stitch on this shot!!..You stitch so much better than my wife!!..I have the most uncomfortable socks in the world!!
All joking to one side...it is a lovely scene and you have captured the essence of it perfectly..Its all good to me...I dont think it would stand a large print but it perfect for here...I wish I had some mountains near me!!
Cheers Horia

glad to see new photo form you.
Today I was busy and didn't want to to go to TN with my crytic. But in the evening I decided to open gallery of TN - simply for looking, not to write something.
Whant I saw your photo I understand thet I can't pass it. Wonderful landscape with amazning colors, unbelievable sky and nice composition.

Hello Horia,
Polarizer generated saturated colours.
Futhermore a beautiful compo.
Good stitching:-)
Well done

hi horia
very good choice in term of lens

good job

aleks ;-)

Wow... four vertical shots stitched together. Nice work... handheld too! I think there is a lot of detail hiding in the darker areas. I used the Shadows slider in Photoshop Elements and the image really "popped"!
It looks like a nice place for an outing... great weather too.

Hi Horia!

See, there is always a compensation after murphy appearances...
The landscape is fine, stitching perfect, there's only something strange in the top right, some grey tones I can't define if they're clouds or what.
The colors are great, your polar filter does it's job very well. And this composition gives a fine feeling of winter and spring in the turn. I love the mood it gives, I'm so happy for these fine weather days nowadays too...

Best regards,

Hi Hori!

It really seems that you had a great day. The landscape is magnificient. I don't see any bugs in your stitched picture. If there are any, they would be visible at a larger size only. Congratulations, you made a good job, even after a day in the mountains!

From my point of view, the contrast is a bit too harsh, especially the dark tones seem a bit too dark to me. Probaly this is also the result of the polarizing filter, the effect of it is very visible in the sky. It's too blue, too dark to be natural. I know, my critic is probably a bit severe, the polarizer is often used, especially in mountain photography. But I don't like it very much. In our photoclub we often had the discussion about the use of it. My opinion is that the polarizer is a perfect tool to eliminate undesired reflections, but is bad for landscapes.

I hope you don't mind. These are very personal considerations and all this does not affect the quality and the beauty of your picture.

Kind regards

It just goes to show...ya don't know what ya got till it's gone....and I miss these fine up-eramics of yours...very nicely done...It is so hard for me to do a vertical..but you and a couple of others have no problems...

Hi Horia

A great composition - well thought out - the cirrus is well balanced by the small fir trees - great colours too.

Hi Horia,
A beautiful landscape!
I like a lot the well saturated colours here, and the high contrast mede with the snow.
You also got plenty of information on all that whites.
Congratulations and thanks for share.
My best regards,

Hola Horia.
This is a beautiful photo. Great sharpness and very clean photo. Wonderful colors and excellent POV.
Saludos Horia.

Nice vertical panorama shot Horia!
The composition is excellent.
Superb sharpness and clarity.
Nice rich colours.
Slightly too dark so I did a workshop to brighten it up... I hope you don't mind!
You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful place! I'd have to travel at least 800 miles to get anywhere somewhere like this! :-)

Great work my friend.

Hi Horia,
You did a very good work here, I cannot see any imperfections. It seems like a single frame to me,if you didn't tell I wouldn't understand that this was 4 photos stitched together. Very nice POV, DOF, composition, colors and exposure handling. TFS

Hello Horia,
THis is very skilfully done, I'd never guess you'd fiddled with this one!! Wonderful view across the mountains. Great DOF and beautiful colours. I like the POV and the shape of the cloud too. You said you walked up, didn't you ski? Very impressive work!

Hello Horia, that's a very well done composition, everything in it is great but I think the greatest thing is the exposure. The snow is very well detailed and the clouds stands out very well against the darker sky, a beauty, thanks!

Beautiful shot!Perfect landscape and perfect exposure!!
Very well done!Thank you for sharing!

Hi Horia.
Wonderful shot. I like how many WS were shared. Watching original shots and workshops I must say I like yours more. I only think would be a little bit better to light a bit image of mountains, not by sky and any other objects. But it is not a point. Shot is superb as it is. Great exposure and snow reproduction, splendid colour palette, lights and shadows. Terrific sharpness and details and of course, amazing subject. Bravo.

Hi Horia,
I'm glad that Murphy did not do his job this time. The clear winter sky did gave you a stunning far view. The bit of clouds in the sky do make the photo perfect. Its a repetition of the white from the snow covered FG. Good use of the trees in the FG and the CP filter gave you spot on exposure.

Hi Horio, Your pics are incredibly beautiful. Your landscapes must be included in 'Visit Romania' brochure!!! I never knew that Romania has such beautiful landscapes. Wow! TFS!
