The dragonfly species unknwon to me came out of the sweep net with the Colias species i posted earlier. It sits a bit more comfortable but tired on a finger (maybe mine i don't know).

You all guys know how or what like the dragonflies are. So i won't add a long row of excrept from Wikipedia. In the image you can tell the simple and compound eyes, a scar above the mouth, sections partly covered with scales. It surely does not smile, neither it was trying to bite its holder.

Red BG is from the shirt of a student of mine. That makes the photo -in part- of a studio work. But all other things are like the previous posts: handheld, pop-up flash...

Hope you like and voice any guesses about ID...

Hello Umit,

Superbly closed to the head. Stunning details on the mouth and eye. I can't help you with the ID but an excellent super-micro shot here.

I don't think I have seen insects this close up before, and it's a good thing I don't. I would scream like a little girl if I see it with this much detail. Good job, excellent clarity and wonderful colors.

Hello Umit,

Superb closeup of the dragon fly head. DOF,color and details are very good.

Hi Umit

absoulutly a nice macro shot with very good details. It wants to bite u :))
well done

Selamla Ümit,
Bileşik gözdeki ommatidiumlar çıkmış nerdeyse. İlginç bir göz yapısı; üst kısımda daha büyük altta daha küçük boyutlu ommatidium yapısı. Detaylar harika. Eline sağlık.

Hello Umit,

This is better than any text book photograph that I have ever seen! It is a fabulous macro with incredible detail! Those compound eyes look like the surface of my radio speakers!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)
Many thanks for your warm comments on 'Does my butt ...'

Hi Umit, I can't help you with ID. Actually it might help others (more knowledgeable in this area if you also post a full size shot of this in a workshop. In any case this is a very close macro, with very fine detail on the head.

Thanks, John

Good portrait Ümit, the best part is the fine detail of the compound eyes, we can easily observe the top 1/3 coarse seeing part, below that another 1/3 fine seeing part and below that much finer (ommatidiums much more numerous and smaller) high resolution sight part. Very good my friend.

Hi Umit,
Outstanding close-up shot with amazing sharpness, clarity and details. Excellent focus on its head and you have used the flash light well. Great POV and DOF. The composition is superb. Kudos.

Hi Umit,

Excellent image, very sharp with great depth-of-field! Did you use an auxiliary close-up lens for that, or does your camera do that well with macro on its own?

Hello Ümit,
Superb close macro of a dragonfly head with excellent sharpness and detail. The lighting and POV are also great. It is nice to see the details of the compound eyes.
I think this may be some species of Sympetrum.
Thanks for sharing this one,
Regards, Ivan

Merhaba Umit mukemmel yakin macro cekmisin net ve detaylar keskin. tebrikler selam Necip.

Merhaba Ümit,
Superb macro, very sharp, lights control and good composition.

Hi Umit,
incredible, how you present all the fine details of the dragonfly eye. You even can study thae (black) focus of the lower eye. Extremely good macro, Umit.
I still remember how a fellow student of mine during the Matura examination said: "insects are primitive organisms" and how the professor jumped almost to the ceiling in anger.
My best regards to you

Hi Umit
Great macro shot. I like sharpness, POV and tight crop. I think that you could reduce the highlights a little bit here
Best wishes

Superb clarity and focus! The background color is very nice. But most of all, the sharp focus on the eyes and mouth of this subject is simply amazing.
