Sheriff,

Just don't big cats here in the states. We have Puma, but sightings are rare and often violent. This is well captured. Well exposed, got the light just right. I have the same kit, and find the sigma to be a beast to use free hand,Were you shooting from a vehicle perhaps with a sand bag? O like this one a lot.

What a great picture of the great animal. So expressive scene which reflects the state of mood of the lion perfectly. I like wonderful rich colours, razor sharpness of the animal image and perfect wide DOF. Sand-green BG is excellent and supplements the main subject very well. Well done and best wishes.

Very good portriat of a beautiful lioness, lucky for you to see them in their natural habitat. She is a lucky one it seems. She looks very well fed. Some of the lions I see in Kenya and Tanzania were skinnier. Good clarity and detail. Well done.
Minor comment I have is that the color look a little over saturated or too much contrast. It doesn’t look as natural, on my monitor anyway.

Wonderful shot of this Lion with immaculate sharpness with perfect lighting and exposure. However I think it has been sharpened a bit too much. Anyway a fabulous eye contact and the moment has been freezed beautifully. You have got to be very lucky to have see these creatures in the wild back to back. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

The lioness has given you a very lovely pose here, with good eye contact. There are many details to appreciate, especially in the face area. Lovely big brown eyes, rosy snout, clearly visible whiskers and most important the teeth to slaughter her prey. This is indeed a very majestic animal. Congratulations with such a lovely shot. Great wildlife observations. Good sharpness nice compo. I think that you coud crop it little bit from the right to remove the part of another lion. Very good OOF background nice colors (but maybe you could do a little decrease of saturation)

By the bits sticking out on the right hand side it seems there was more of the pride in attendance. Well spotted and it just again show how unpredictable game and sightings can be. A model young lioness in her prime and she gave you a good looking over. Actually it is quite amazing how these animals sometimes seem to totally ignore you, almost as if they're not even aware that you are there. However, do not misjudge the situation as they are rather well aware of what's happening around them. A nice capture with lovely sharp details.

Very nice looking big cat. Very good focus and sharpness and great details. There are even some scars on the nose visible.
Very good composition, I would have croped the nose of the lion on the right out of the picture (imo), and very nic low pov.

Superb capture of this Lioness in a relaxed posture. The expression in her eye suggests she is aware of your presence but does not seem to be disturbed by it.

Hello Sheriff, I am amazed at the fact that you live close to Kruger Park where millions of people would die to go. As a kid, I wanted to go and live like "Daktari" if you know the TV program about a big "hospital" in the African steps. A great example that proper planning and thinking ahead will get you good shots! Congrats for this and i see you were rewarded with a superb shot.
This
I really like the facial expression that you captured here as well as the overall sharpness that your subject benefits from.
The DOF and exposure parameters are also spot-on and in fact the only nit i can pick on here is the nose of the other lion entering the frame there on the right :)
Anyway, great job!

I've thinking about this one: technically its great, sharp and with good colours. But its the composition that worried me: either take a close crop to produce a head and neck portrait, or make a portrait showing the whole lioness including the paws an tail. For me this one is neither.
Now I have this off my chest I can credit you for the sharpness, POV and excellent natural OOF BG.

You were so lucky! We stayed at Lower Sabie in May and often drove toward Skukuza and only once saw lion and it was only it's paw sticking out of the long grass as it must've been lying on its back. This is such a stunning clear image. I like the eye contact and beautiful color. Very well done my friend and thanks for sharing.
