Each of these two hawks obviously had his eye on something in this field. Both landed in the same spot and then looked at each other as if to say, "Huh, what are you doing here?" I don't suppose different species of hawks generally occupy the same close space by choice. I can only guess as to varieties. The left one may be a Rough Legged Hawk. The right side one perhaps ??? swainson???.

I am going to be out of town for much of the next 3 months! I'll be able to check in from time to time but won't be on TN on a regular basis for a while. Happy Shooting!! : )

Hi Evelynn,
very nice is this capture and unusual as I can not ever remember seeing two different species so close together that were not trying to kill one another. The light in this shot looks similar to my eagle photo of today perhaps a wee bit better. The colours and details are all good for these two look great. Thanks for sharing another one of your quality shots with us and safe traveling while you are out of town. I surely will miss your beautiful pictures Evelynn and I wish you well. As for this picture, what a great shot, beautiful colours and perfect sharpness, it's velvety! I think those two hawks look very similar, could they be a juvenile and a mother, or something... I don't now much about identification of prey birds even though I love them. The head is different but who knows. Hope you get the ID because it's a fantastic scene. Bye bye!

Hello Evelynn,

Most of the time it's hard enough to capture one of these wonderful birds of prey in the same frame, but you've greatly managed to get two at the same time.
Very beautiful image with lovely pose of the two birds looking at eachother.
Technically perfect with great sharpness, DOF exposure and clarity.
Most wonderful soft light, fether details and soft BG.
Perfect work. TFS!!!
Wish you a very nice time during the next three months and am with great pleasure looking foreward to your next uploads.

Kindest regards, Harry

Hi Evelynn,
A Wonderful image of these two Hawks, excellent detail in both bird, really like the separation and how you've placed the birds between the OOF foreground and background, lovely work, all the best Cheers Rick :)

No fair... Not one, but two different hawks!
And two different species to boot.
What a great scene!
Both of the raptors are captured with sharp details and excellent light.
The POV is great as it connotes interaction between the two.
Have a series of great trips and bring back some wonderful pictures.
We will miss you. Catch you later. : )

Another nice image from Ridgefield. I presume it was overcast... that sure makes for great tones in your images. The BG is silky smooth to. Nice capture.

Looks like at Ridgefield birds of many feathers were flocking together. ;)

Nice shot Evelynn! Enjoy your travels over the next few months.

Hello Evelynn,
Excellent colors, content, 'communication' between the birds...
Very good foreground and background through the depth of field and the low point of view.
