[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Anatolian Orchid (a good opportunity to salute my Turkish TN friends!) is found all the way from the Aegean Islands through Turkey to West Iran, and to Israel. Here it grows at elevations higher than 500 m above sea level only. Its most characteristic feature is the long, upward curving spur. Indeed, in Arabic it is called “The Gazelle’s Horn”. The color and the spotted labellum are also typical of the species. This specimen was photographed on the background of the thorny shrub, Sarcopoterium spinosum (see yesterday’s posting), at an elevation of about 1000 m above sea level.

A fine macro shot indeed of the beautiful Anatolian Orchid Ishi, in Turkish the thorny shrub (S. spinosum) is known as "the Shepherd's Pillow", do you have a similar name for it, my friend?

Hi Ishi, very good little orchids, you have captured the colours very well, excellent focus and clarity to this. TFS regards h

Hi Ishi!

I just discover your gallery and I'm happy about that. I love flowers a lot although I don't photography them often. I will come back to your gallery many times...

This Orchid is beautiful, I like the way you have managed the lighting and the colours are superb. The picture is well accompanied by your interesting notes.

Kind regards

Bonjour Ishi
Très intéressante espèce, originale avec ce long éperon, qui la différencie bien du groupe d'O. mascula. Ta galerie montre beaucoup de belles espèces, qui illustrent la très grande richesse et la diversité de ton pays.
