[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ipomoea carnea.
Synonym: Ipomoea fistulosa.
Common names: Hedge Glory, Bush Morning Glory.
Common Hindi name: Besharam.
Plant: 3.5m. Gregarious, erect shrub with milky juice and hollow branches.
Leaves: 84-135mm long, 3970 mm wide. Heart shaped.
Flower: 10cm across in cymes.
Native of South America, naturalised in India and Nepal.
An aggressive invader. Overruns the banks of lakes and ponds, choking out native plants.
Seed is poisonous if ingested.
Known to absorb heavy metals.
It is reported to have stimulatory allelopathic effects. Roots are boiled to use as laxative and to provoke menstruation. Traditional healers for treatment of skin diseases have used it. The milky juice of plant has been used for the treatment of Leucoderma and other related skin diseases. Only external applications have been recommended due to poisonous nature of the plant.

Hi Nirmal,
A nice capture of this beautiful flowers. Excellent composition and details. We call it Amari (which never dies). When I was at school say at 5th class. The stem made a very good cane for punishment. And it really hurts hard. Thanks a lot for sharing.

Good sharp picture and beautiful softcolor flower.
Flower are well centered and personally I prefer a crop right.
