[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today I dedicate this post to our fellow member Pankaj Bajpai with thanks for his wonderful skink portrait dedication for me. THANK YOU PANKAJ DA.

Shot taken hand held at evening almost dark as it was winter and the sun sets early. I used my LED lamp to make focus with one hand and with the other hand took this shot. It is not as beautiful as Pankaj Da's classic style of portraying mantis. But still I decided to dedicate this. Because it took about 20 mins or so to take this shot. Very windy conditions and auto focus was not easy. Hope you will like.

One of those instances where the fill flash was more of an importance and worked well....my luck with flashes is a pesky thing to get rid of. I would almost rather not have to use them. It makes me think of another addition to the math of lens adjustments and aperture settings etc....but for those in whose images it works, then by all means...and here is a good example...Very dynamic colours which make two points of interest...not just the mantis but also the perch...which clearly dominates..

Hello HP
U must be having tonnes of those praying Mantis frames in your archive and each composition special in its own way.
I love this well saturated colours.Superb sharpness and clarity of the mantis and Pankaj would love this , these rich colours are so charectristic of his shots as well.

Very well done.
TFS & Cheers

Hi Haraprasan,

Very nice dedication to Pankaj. The colors are absolutely amazing. The green glows! Superb details of the insect in a nice pose on the pretty orange flower.

bonjour haraprasan
bonne netteté et jolie couleur mais je trouve que vous auriez dû recadré plus car ici la fleur occupe plus de place que la mante et pourtant je pense que c'est elle le sujet.

Hi Haraprasan,

Nice dedication, beautiful insect with very nice colours.
Good dof and pov.

Hi haraprasan. This is a colourful one. Rich in green and orange colours. Great light in on the Insect. and fine detail. i like the dark BG it shows it up so well. TFS.

Hi Haraprasan,
Very colourful composition. I like contrast between insect and flower. I am not sure how big is a flower but the mantis had to be rather small.
Very nice dedication to Pankaj too :)
Best regards,

Excellent shot, HP.very well done!

Hello Haraprasan. Nice shot for Pankaj. Beautiful detail in contrasting colors. Well shot against the dark background. Regards. Jusni

Hello Haraprasan,
what a fine macro of this Mantis!
You used your flash very well and it was quick thinking to use a lamp to help with the autofocus!
Very sharp and crisp with great saturated colours and a superb BG.
Nice dedication to Pankaj!

Well done,
