Tolerant of a wide range of habitats, the Heath Spotted-orchid (Dactylorhiza maculate) is very common throughout Europe.
This orchid grows to around 20 cm in height which is generally smaller than the Common Spotted-orchid (Dactylorhiza fuchsia) with which it is often confused. The lip of the Heath Spotted-orchid is also more rounded and without the exaggerated central tooth found on the Common Spotted-orchid. It generally prefers the acid soils associated with heaths, bogs and marshland although it will sometimes invade the more calcareous habitats favoured by the Common Spotted-orchid. (First Nature)

The common green bottle fly (Lucilia sericata) is a common blow-fly found in most areas of the world, and the most well-known of the numerous green bottle fly species. It is 10-14 mm long, slightly larger than a housefly, and has brilliant, metallic, blue-green or golden colouration with black markings. It has black bristle-like hair and three cross-grooves on the thorax. The wings are clear with light brown veins, and the legs and antennae are black. The larvae of the fly are also used for maggot therapy. (Wikipedia)

On peut trouver l'Orchis tacheté (Dactylorhiza maculata) pratiquement dans tous les pays d’Europe, mais il est très rare ou absent dans les zones méditerranéennes. Il est capable de s'adapter à un large éventail de milieux acides, secs ou humides. Il fleurit principalement en juin.
C’est une plante robuste, de 20 à 60 cm, munie d'une tige mince et pleine, généralement teintée de violet au sommet. Elle possède des feuilles lancéolées, de 10 à 15 cm, le plus souvent fortement maculées sur la face supérieure, ce qui a donné son nom à cette espèce. L'inflorescence est dense, conique puis cylindrique et composée de 15 à 50 fleurs souvent pâles, blanchâtres à rosées, parfois lilas foncé. Les bractées sont vertes comme les feuilles et souvent maculées de violet.
Les sépales latéraux sont étalés à presque dressés et maculés en dedans, leur sommet réfléchi ou rabattu. Le labelle est orbiculaire ou en forme de coeur renversé (obcordiforme), plan à peu convexe, orné de points, de tirets et de lignes pourpres à violacés, formant souvent des boucles au centre.
Les lobes latéraux du labelle sont arrondis et sont aussi longs ou plus longs que le lobe médian très étroit et court, ce dernier caractère étant utilisé pour distinguer l'Orchis tacheté d'une espèce très voisine, l'Orchis de Fuchs (Dactylorhiza fuchsii). Enfin, le labelle est prolongé par un éperon grêle, long de 4 à 10 mm environ, blanchâtre et descendant parallèlement à l'ovaire. (Biodiversité Wallonie)

La mouche verte ( Lucilia sericata) est relativement commune dans la plupart des régions du monde. La larve de cette mouche joue un rôle important pour l’élimination des cadavres.
Taille : 10-14 mm de longueur, soit légèrement plus grande que la mouche domestique. Elle se signale par une coloration brillante, métallique, bleu-vert ou vert-or avec des taches noires. Les ailes sont claires, avec des nervures brun pâle.
Les pattes et les antennes sont noires.
Les larves de cette mouche sont employées en asticothérapie par certains hôpitaux et en médecines traditionnelles, pour soigner certaines plaies. (Wikipedia)

A wonderful photo of this beautiful orchid. The bonus of the fly sitting perfectly positioned on the orchid, makes the photo very special. Colors, details and clarity of the photo are all superb. I like the close capture and the shallow DOF used.

Love the photo ... great POV an DOF. Bokeh is great for the focal point of the orchids. The focus is so well done that you should try to crop the calliphorid fly out and see how amazing "it" is!
