Hello friends,
First of all let me thank you for the valuable comments on my previous posts. Today morning I came across this Cicada clinging on to a blade of grass. They have a long life cycle that runs into years and once they put on wings, have only a few days to live.

More info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cicada

The loud Cicada song reminds me of my younger days, we kids(my sister and cousins) used to spend summer holidays with our grand Parents at Kodanad. Evening air gets filled with cicada songs and all kinds of insect noises, since TV was not available at that time, all we could do was enjoy the nature, talk or read. That is the time we start thinking of mom and dad and feel homesick :) I am the only lucky one from that group of kids to return to Kodanad and make it my home. I can go back to those good old days every evening :)
Thank you for taking a look.

Hello Anil,
you show this cicada specimen with high sharpness. I nparticular the wing venation appears very clear.
But also the thorax and the head including the eyes and the minute antennae are nicely shown.
Very suitable and smooth background!
Best wishes, Peter

A beautiful and very technical reproduction of this fine cicada specimen Anil, detail of the right forewing is exceptional, two of the three simple eyes shine like small rubies, a splendid effect indeed!

Amazingly sharp and crisp image of a Cicada, Anil.
With the camera setings you chose, you have got perfect details and colours on the subject and have been able to turn the BG into a plain, unobtrusive and supportive component of this brilliant shot.
You don't post frequently, so an image of this calibre is worth waiting for.

Hello Anil,

Excellent sharp picture of this cicada. Superb detail. Splendid colours.

Hello Anil,
I can understand the sound of a Cicada causing waves of nostalgia and here you present a superb macro of one with excellent sharpness and lighting that shows its beauty against an ideal neutral bokeh BG.

Hi Anil,
Wonderful details in this superbly sharp macro, i love the PoV you have used that manages to give the best view of the eye and that glassy wing. The BG compliments your subject very well.
Very well done.
TFS & Cheers

Hello Anil,Fantastic shot.Excellent. We miss you and please do post. Lovely shot and great work. I love to see you two (couples) posting and it will be great to watch. Ganesh

hi anil,
this is a masterpiece! when smitha told me that u've posted a pic i could not resist seeing it !
excellent camera work!

Amazing color. It is very unusual for a Cicada to rest on a non-camouflaged green grass. I am also very impressed with the Green colors around the head and the body. The Cicadas in Bangalore primarily have yellow colors. Lovely picture.
