[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I sweated by butt off getting this shot; not because I was in a stressful situtation, and not because I had to physically work hard to get this shot...because I was in a greenhouse on a humid 90 degree summer day. This image of the Mournful Owl Butterfly was captured at the Wings of Fancy butterfly exhibit at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland. I love the butterfly exhibit! Seeing so many beautiful creatures in one spot is awesome! If it wasn't so hot in the greenhouse, and I didn't sweat as much as I do, I'd probably stay in there all day photographing the butterflies.

This photo is a perfect example of mimicry and deception in nature. Every time I look at this photo, at first glance, I think I'm looking at eyes of a larger creature. It's so cool how markings can be used in nature to trick potential predators...very cool!

Very nice macro image Stephen, Great sharpness and fine detail. The patterns on the Butterfly are truly amazing. Well done!
