[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I believe this is an immature Black-Crowned Night Heron. If I have misidentified the species, please let me know. The heron was lit by the setting sun, giving this somewhat monochrome image kind of a dark, creepy feel, especially with the heron's bright red eyes. The original RAW image was cropped a little bit and I changed the curves ever so slightly, but that's it for the PP. I had to use ISO 400 for this handheld shot, so the image is a tad grainy, but I think the grain adds to the overall dark feel of the image.

Very good use of available light Stephen,
Your right, it does give it a dark creepy kind of feeling.
Nice detail and clarity to your image. Love the way it's red eye kind of draws you into the picture. Well done!!
