Kingdom: Fungi
Division: Basidiomycota
Class: Agaricomycetes
Order: Boletales
Family: Boletaceae

Boletaceae is a family of mushrooms, primarily characterized by holding their spores in small pores on the underside of the mushroom, instead of gills, as are found in agarics. Nearly as widely distributed as agarics, they include the Cep or King Bolete (Boletus edulis), much sought after by mushroom hunters. As a whole, the typical members of the family are commonly known as boletes.

Boletes are a relatively safe group of mushrooms for human consumption, as none are known to be deadly to adults, and they are the most sought after fungi for mushroom hunting. They are especially suitable for novice mushroom hunters, since there is little danger of confusing them with deadly mushrooms, like various Amanita agarics, which are the most poisonous mushrooms in the world. They are easily distinguished from agarics, and easily recognized for colour, pores and thick stems and caps

Hi To you both. Your picture of this Fungi looks like it comes from the land of giants. Its the POV you have taken this fine shot at. Sharp focusing and fine detail . The colours look so natural from the greens of the moss to the orange brown of the skin . with the underside looking so good. well done tFS.

Hola Felipe y Cristina,
cristal clear view from underneath. The microstructures are excellently shown, 3D down to the smallest details.
Best wishes, Peter

Hello Again!

King of fungi this time :-) I like colours, details and of course low POV. Surface of subject is perfectly exposured and very detailed. Nice composition with fresh-green moss.

Una muy bella presentación, como siempre, y como siempre una útil y completa nota. Muy buen trabajo

Hola Felipe & Cristina,
Here you have captured such beautiful detail, sharpness & colour.
Your focus is exceptional.
Congratulations on this work.

David Cortez.

Hi Felipe and Cristina,
Excellent POV. Pores are sharp and all details can be seen. Colors are very nice too. Thanks

Hola Felipe,
Yes, Boletes are the king of fungi. :) You're right about not being deadly toxic specie in the genus, but I wouldn't advice anyone eating Boletus satanas or calopus for example. :)
Very nice photo, the usual high quality from You. Fantastic details, especially on the pores. Not to mention top notch sharpness and compo.
Outstanding image again, congrats and tfs. Friendly regards, László

Hi Felipe ,
I can only guess you spend a lot of time looking for fungi on raised ground. To help separate fungi from the background. An interesting patten under the cap with nice colours.

Splendida macro di questo boleto, eccellenti POV, DOF e composizione che mostra degli straordinari dettagli della parte inferiore del fungo, ottima nitidezza, bellissimi i colori. Grazie e complimenti. Ciao Maurizio
