Hi Folks , today I got to go to a new lake , and found myself a really nice treat. looking across the lake we thought we had seen a boat or two , but it was really a handful of American White Pelican's seven or more I could not tell exactly , it was when two of them flew overhead than landed closer in the water that I realized what the white shapes across the water where... what a nice treat , I had never seen this bird so close , and woo I never really knew just how big they are.

Happily I managed some pictures when they flew over , cause there was no chance of having them swim by too close , a little later they all flew away , perhaps headed over to Frank Lake , I have seen a like number of them fly over head there as well.

That has to be pretty random Art! I lived on the Northern Cal coast and saw my share but not all that many and if I saw them as far inland as you did here...wow...What a rare image in fact....but if they are there...it must be some reason of which not discovered...I think this image is worthy of note in location taken and species....WOW!

That's a very nice in-flight shot! I like the POV, lighting and details you attained here. You've frozen this one very well as well. Great work.

Best Regards,

Hi Art,
nice capture of this graceful pelican. good colors and clear blue sky, perhaps your timing missed the full opening of its wings a bit. sure you would have got it, check other frames, if you made a series of exposures. i would like to see this in pure rectangle frame. TFS.

Hi Art,

Nicely captured flight picture of pelican with good BG. TFS

Hi Art.
I like your excellent in-flight shot so much. POV and diagonal composition are superb. Despite the strong sunlight you have exposed image perfectly. Both dark and light areas are reproduced very well. Sharpness of the bird image is great. My compliments. Well done.

Hi Art,
I have seen Brown Pelicans in San Diego but not a white pelican. They are huge esp w a full wing span..
Very nice capture in flight!! TFS.

Hello Art. This is such a stunning shot. I like the wings spread and vivid details of the capture. The changing hues of the blue sky is very pleasant. Thanks for sharing and best regards. Jusni
