[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Hello friends,
It's been ages since I last posted a shot on TN. I return with this shot of a chameleon which graciously struck a very nice pose and allowed me a couple of good shots for my portfolio.
Chameleons, as everyone seems to know change colour very rapidly and are extremely difficult to spot. The general misconception is the reason behind this colour transformation, with many thinking it it done to mimic its surroundings. This seems to be an incorrect idea as it seems that colour changes are more affected by mood. There is also a theory that these colour changes are a means of communication.
Chameleons are not natural habitants of the Maltese Islands. They are an introduced species [late 1800's]but they succeeded in settling in very well and today they are quite widespread in our countyside. |
