[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I'm back from my four week vacation to Norway. We started our vacation with a quick visit to Oslo and then moved on towards Roros. We found a small campsite just outside Roros near Os. At one evening it seems that nature brought me a fake sunset. Normally the sun would not set for atleast two more hours and other mountains would have blocked my view. But this time clouds filtered the light in such a way that it looked like a real sunset. I had to hurry to make this photo since the light on the mountain was very short. Also the mosquitoes were bugging me crazy. I think I got the double bonus with the half moon perfectly positioned to the right.

I've tried to look up the name of the mountain but have not found a good and detailed map on the Internet. I might add it when I do find a map that has names of mountains and hills.

Anyway, this is the first photo of more to come. I will also create a traveloque with a more detailed story of my trip through Norway.

Hi Niek!!!!!! Glad to have you back!

Isn't it exciting when you see special light like this... and you actually have your camera ready, and are in a place where you can stop and take a shot? I love those moments. This is a nice balanced image with a thoughtful composition. I like it. Nicely presented too.

Hallo Niek,

Eindelijk weer terug op het nest. Fijne vakantie gehad?? Ben benieuwd met wat voor een mooie foto's ons gaat verrassen.

Deze foto is in ieder geval een heel goed begin. De compositie is goed. De licht gekleurde heuvel,de donkere bomenrij en de weer lichtere voorgond geeft wel een heel mooi lichteffect. Als je daarbij de gladde wolken, de blauwe lucht en het maantje erbij optelt heb je gewoon een mooie foto.

It's a pleasure to have you back! Norway also means wonderful souvenirs for me. I hope you have had a great time there and I'm looking forward to seeing more pictures from there.

I like your notes and the way you tell about this fake sunset. Indeed, the light is beautiful, typical for Norwegian circumstances. I also like the sky with the delicate clouds that probably generated the lighting conditions. The picture is held in delightful peaceful atmosphre.

I like the way the sun is peeking onto the top of the mountain. A nice composition of light, mountain and trees. The moon, clouds and blue sky add more interest to your image. Looking forward to more images from your trip.

Wonderful to see you back and i hope you had a terrific time in that LONG trip of yours to Norway :) I'm (and definitely not only me) very much looking forward to seeing a lot of great shot from there!

This is indeed a very interesting shot.
It surely feels like a sunset and the colors and tones "say" just like that, but as you told us, it's not. It's actually a bit funny, too...but then again Scandinavia is known for it's "unusual" timetable for days and nights :))
Anyway, this is a nice view, but probably not the first one that comes to my mind when i think Norway, However, this is another side of TN - to present us beautiful and unknown parts about the world. The hills, trees and patch of snow here make great ground elements, and if you add that beautiful moon and those colored clouds, you get a very nice moody shot.
Looking forward for what's to come.

well i have to say, i'm glad to have you back! Landscapes are far and few between here on TN. Can't wait to see more from your travels!
You experience of a fake sunset is an intriguing one and it's interesting to see the similarity here between Scotland and Norway. Your composition is excellent and the moon is indeed perfectly placed. I think maybe a tad more contrast is the only thing that make this stand out more, but that's just a personal opinion i guess.

I do like the tad of light on that mountain to the left as well as the two layers you find in the sky. The moon is the icing on the cake...
