Masked Weaver (Swarkeelgeelvink) (Ploceus velatus)

The Masked weaver has been described in detail in previous posts on TE (Myself, Callie et al).

It is springtime now in our part of the world and of course the bird allso have the feeling. This weaver is hard at work building a nest that hopefully will be up to the high standards expected by Mrs Weaver.
I have a few nice "action shots that I will post if the folks are interested.

Shooting Data: Nikon D70; Sigma 170-500mm set at 340mm. ISO 500.

Postprocessing in Photoshop.

Beautiful. Both nest and bird are very sharp and clear. I like the interaction presented by the bird looking towards the camera with the next piece for the nest in his bill ;-))

Ben, Striking photo of this Masked Weaver busy with the task at hand. You've combined several elements to give this one great impact on the viewer. There's no question who the actor is here! You've captured the birds eye, turned to the lens in an almost questioning manner..the sprig..the hanging position..& more..Like it very much!!

Recuerdo cuando era pequeño, en los documentales sobre Africa ver estas maravillosas aves.
Excelente captura Ben, por su composicion, por la oportunidad del disparo construyendo el nido, por su claridad y colorido.

I remember when he was child, in the documentary ones of TV on Africa to see these wonderful birds.
Excellent capture Ben, by its composition, the opportunity of the shot constructing the nest, by its colorful and sharpness.

Very well captured. Well done for waiting until its head was at the perfect angle. Maybe cropping at the right a little more would make it even better. I'm not sure. A fantastic shot anyways!

I have been trying to get one of these for a couple of weeks. Every time I turn my back he starts to build. He is looking at you as if you are stealing his plans (or his females). Very nice capture against the blue sky. I can't way for our skies to turn cloudy and for some rain to fall. Groetnis
