Hi Folks , today I have this photo of a crow. the crow is an interesting enough bird , it has such a role in history and mythology. it has been portrayed as a harbinger of death , and even as a creator. one of my favorite stories I have heard of a crow comes from native spiritual beliefs , where the crow is considered a creator , in one of the tales of the crow it was said to have viewed man as becoming too emboldened and to arrogant , so the crow created the bear , in order to teach man fear and respect.

another story that I dug up from the wiki is a very old one...

"In the Epic of Gilgamesh, the Chaldean myth, the character Utnapishtim releases a dove and a raven to find land, however, the dove merely circles and returns. Only then does Utnapishtim send forth the raven, who does not return. Utnapishtim extrapolates from this that the raven has found land, which is why it hasn't returned. This would seem to indicate some acknowledgment of crow intelligence, which may have been apparent even in ancient times, and to some might imply that the higher intelligence of crows, when compared to other birds, is striking enough that it was known even then."

I liked that one just because of the fact of how it recognizes the intelligence of this bird. I figure the wiki says it very well , the crow has long been regarded as an intelligent bird and has subsequently played a role in mythology.

animals in mythological stories are very interesting , they hold some Perls of truth about the animals themselves , and of people as well....

thanks for stopping in

Hi Art,(Neighbor)

The detail in the dark plumage is stunning, really like the POV, excellent eye contact, I can vouch for there intelligence, the couple I have at home will tap on the window as do the butcher birds on the odd occasion they come pass and I've forgotten to put some food out, t.f.s this beauty, all the best,

Cheers Rick :)

Nice job with the crow. Getting good detail in the plummage of these wary birds is not easy. Gary

Hello Art

Crows are difficult to capture ,but you have managed a fine job showing plumage detail.
The focus is sharp with good lighting and natural colours.
Well composed.
Very nice eye catch light,it actually defines the eye.
